Today, the grades for one of my courses were released. The class average was higher than that which the department allowed, so the professor had to scale everyone's marks down to meet the policy. I ended up failing because my class was too smart. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I discovered that when my professor had said "For every A there will be an F," he was deadly serious. I earned a 94% mark, which in this class is known as a D. FML
Today, I got the best grade in class on my economics midterm. Rather than tell me I did a good job, my professor criticized me in front of everyone about how I was working "too hard". FML
Today, I got my results on a recent, important midterm. During the exam, I'd noticed my instructor had accidentally left an answers page in the test packet, so being honest, I didn't look at them. It turns out she did it on purpose to help us pass. I failed. FML
Academia ain't for everyone
Today, after dropping a class for the first time ever in college in order to focus on raising my grades, I failed the test that I dropped another course to study for. By not finishing on time. After 3 days of studying. FML
Self sabotage
Today, I overslept and missed both of my morning classes. I was supposed to lead an instructional discussion in my communications class that was worth a lot of points. Now my grade has dropped from an A to an F. FML
Anonymity
Today, I got my grades back. I got a very poor evaluation for my lit class, which was odd because it didn't match the impression from my end-of-class meeting with the professor. It does, however, include a nod to the supposedly-anonymous negative class review I gave her, though. FML
Today, as I went into my calculus class, the teacher announced that someone had received a negative grade on the test we were getting back. I laughed and said, "Which f*cker managed to get a negative?" Turns out I'm the dumbass. FML
Today, my math teacher brought his laptop to tally up all our scores for our report card. He then displayed the results on a big screen in front of the whole class. The ones who failed were marked yellow. I was the only one marked yellow. FML
Suspicious minds
Today, my college instructor told me I hadn't actually failed a big exam as he originally said. It turns out he'd mixed me up with another student. Now thanks to the power of gossip, half my class thinks I slept with him so he'd switch my grade with the other student's. FML
Today, I finally found out why I got a D in a class last semester. It was a heavily attendance-based class, and apparently he only marked you present if you participated in class discussion. It was a 100-seat lecture. FML

Are they even allowed to do that?

"My class was too smart" is a fancy way of saying "I was too stupid"

It's probably because there's a certain limit to how good grades can be, without being false. They did this once at my university and it turned out a lot of people had the exam beforehand and thus cheated.

There is not limit the op is just ****** stupid

No, you failed because you failed. If you had studied harder, you would have been at the top of the scale rather than the bottom. Don't blame someone or something else for your own failures. Learn to take some goddamed responsibility for yourself.

While true doc, they would have passed if they were in a different class, so it's still a FYL

If you truly earned a passing grade, take it to the dean - bring all the graded work you have from the class.

Hack those bastards and change your grade just like in the movies cuz that's obviously possible

This happened to me in University too. I don't know if it's an "official" policy, but departments have a range in which grades in a particular level (for example, a 300-level class) are supposed to fall, and if they are too high, the whole class gets scaled down. A more accurate statement would be "The whole class got scaled down because the prof liked us TOO much and marked us too leniently".

thats what I was thinking

That's crap. I don't see why this would be legal. The professor was forced to fail you and it was for no reason except the fact that the class got good grades. I could imagine you suing for this, and it wouldn't even be uncalled for.

I agree, it is not legal, at least where I'm from, to scale down your grade unless there was a curve to begin with. if this cause you to fail the course I would definitely take issue with it

grades for one of my courses WAS released.
Doortje 30
No, the grades of his fellow students for that particular course were released as well, so 'were' is correct.

grades = plural; WERE is correct not WAS. "grades" is the subject if it is "one of the grades" then WAS is the correct verb
BergonBerry 0
I disagree with you. " Were " is correct; not " was ". Sorry to correct your not exactly brilliant grammar :) Try a Kindergarten leveled English class, it may help you considering I knew this stuff in Kindergarten.
xundria 5
They are right, were is correct. Grades being the subject since "of my courses" is a prepositional phrase.
MuchDance90s 0
you know what a prepositional phrase is AND you're cute . . . not possible 8-p

if you want to correct someones grammar then make sure you dont make yourself look retarded in the process
pathus22 0
It is a curve. Given that about 90% of people are ******* retards and you ranked in the bottom 5% ( since you got an F in a curved class) you must be literally retarded. The world needs janitors too.

That's communism gone wrong.
