Today, I spent over $2,000 on a big flatscreen TV. My dad insisted I let him mount it on the wall instead of paying someone to do it. All seemed fine, until the TV came loose and smashed onto the floor. My dad refuses to accept responsibility, and says I should've had a professional install it instead. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Ruined
Today, I purchased a brand new television. Not long after the professional who hung it on my wall left, it came crashing down on my hardwood floor. I'm now left with a busted TV, a tear in my living room wall, and a severely drained bank account. FML
Today, I bought myself a brand-new 52" flatscreen. It was only in my house for 2 hours before my toddler had a tantrum, threw a toy right into the screen and wrecked it beyond repair. I paid to have a nice TV for 2 hours. FML
Today, I had to purchase a new flat screen TV for the bar I work at. Last night I was dared to break an ashtray against the wall. I completely missed the wall and smashed the screen of the new TV they bought last month. FML
Thanks, weather!
Today, I bought a brand new TV that cost a pretty penny. I took it home and it had a defect. After a lot of arguing, I was able to exchange the TV for another one. I got it home and it worked amazing. Later on, we had a bad rainstorm, which flooded my room and screwed up not only my new TV, but my PS5, Xbox, and laptop. FML
Today, I found out my mom is getting rid of cable TV. My dad and I bought her a 700 dollar plasma screen TV for Christmas. FML
DIY FML
Today, my dad told me it would be fine to use the mounting tape he'd bought to place paintings up in my newly painted room. I did, but after deciding I wanted to move a painting and pulling it off the wall, the wall came with it. Back to square one. FML
Home Improvement
Today, our washing machine broke and dumped around 100 gallons onto the floor. My dad had installed crappy water valves and we couldn’t turn off the water. I called my dad and he accused me of lying. His “repairs” have now caused 5 major disasters in our home due to his shoddy and cheap work. FML
Today, my four year old got mad that he couldn't find his favorite character on the Wii. So, he decided to smash the Wii remote into my $700 LCD TV, shattering the screen. That was the only TV in the house, and the $80 service plan I bought doesn't cover accidental damage. FML
When there's a will, there's a way
Today, we needed a new TV after our old one died. My husband decided to splurge and ordered a 110 inch TV. It just got delivered and my husband now knows just how big 110 inches is. There is no wall in our house this thing will fit on, and the returns process is crazy complicated. FML
Today, I told my parents that all I wanted for my 18th birthday was to go to a restaurant in NYC for a nice dinner. My parents said no, because it would cost too much money. I came home to see my parents had bought a huge TV for $800. We already have 3 televisions. FML

I'd have to say you deserved it on that one. $2000 is a lot of money to chance losing if it's not mounted right.

Hopefully OP got some sort of warranty on it.
kayydb7 14
Not sure that a warranty would cover damage that was the customer's fault. But it would be nice.
rickyvil 11
warrant prolly wont cover it. rule of thumb is to buy insurance on anything 1000 and over.

@1 - Yep, parents are always right. I can't wait for a visit from Santa Claus, to grow big and strong from eating vegetables all my life, and to never find somebody who loves me as much as my mother!

Yeah this is why I never let my dad help me with things, that and he hated me with a passion.

I think you need to do some more reading on comments you reply to...
figgity83 15
12 what are you talking about, they stated the dad insisted! So your reply is to just say f it and act like that point wasn't there.

They are never wrong either. ("Noooo, I've never said that!")

I can never understand why parents can't accept humility in front of their children!
MattM95 16
I think it is an unwritten rule that parents can't be wrong.

You're not exactly giving off the best impression, either.

You don't seem too bright.
HairIsEverything 15
At least he isn't giving off the impression of a bitch. Oops, was I being too judgemental like you were?

Your* too*
ThePaperDragon 31
Your father seems a bit immature. He should acknowledge his error and at least contribute to a replacement!
ThePaperDragon 31
. . . Replacement.

KittyHawkMarch 29
That really...really... sucks. Is he at least gonna try to pay some of it back?
Lhiah 17
He's paying you back, right..?
HairIsEverything 15
Would OP have posted this FML if his dad was paying him back?.. I think not.
Ashfal 8
I think it's highly implied that he isn't paying.
Lhiah 17
It was more of wishful thinking, but everyone on here is always so serious, good lord.
