Today, on Facebook, all these parents posted photos of their child's last first day of high school, saying they were so proud as they left for senior year. It was my first day of senior year today, but my parents just gave me a high-five for not doing drugs. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my father made a post on Facebook with an old baby picture, saying how proud he was that I got into college. This would have been sweet if the baby picture was actually of me. FML
Fertile
Today, I started my senior year of high school and I just learned I'm pregnant. I'm not sure how to tell my parents, considering I had a baby freshman, sophomore, and junior year as well. FML
Stars of CCTV
Today, my first kiss was caught by my mom's doorbell camera which links to her phone. She uploaded the video to Facebook, along with a soppy comment about her baby girl becoming all grown up. Most of my school has seen and commented on it already. FML
Ugh
Today, formal portraits of my entire class were posted online, with about five photos per person. As my mom was looking at them, she was commenting about how pretty all my classmates look. When she got to my photos, all she had to say was, "Ugh". FML
Welcome to the rest of your life
Today, my parents used to tell that me life gets way better after high school. Yeah, for everyone else at my school. They’re partying it up in college or travelling during gap years, meeting all sorts of people. I have to work more than full time because my parents kicked me out the week after I graduated. FML
Today was the last my last day of high school ever, to celebrate me and my friends were going to go into the city and hang out for a bit. I missed the bus they caught into the city so I caught the next one, when I got there I asked where they were. They didn't respond. FML
Today, after two weeks of trying to convince my parents to go to my high school graduation. They finally gave in. After they handed me my diploma, they decided to leave because it was "too boring." I'm currently sitting on the curb of the street waiting for my Uber, while people take pictures of me. FML
Today, my dad posted on Facebook, apologizing to anyone he'd texted the night before. He said he'd gotten wasted and didn't mean anything he said. So much for that first ever "I'm proud of you" then. FML
Today, I finally got my yearbook for senior year in high school. I started what everyone does, which is count how many times I appear in the yearbook. I stopped when I found a prominent photo of me, picking my nose in class. FML
Parenting styles may differ…
Today, it was my first day at my new high school. I put on a tiny bit of makeup, just some mascara, to feel more confident. I got in the car and my mom started yelling about how horrible my makeup is, basically calls me a slut for wearing it, and makes me take it off. I ended up crying in the bathroom on my first day. FML

It's alright. Keep going where you're going!

Exactly, you don't need social media to validate your life!

im sorry but is this really a fml? its not like the parents didnt say anything positive, so what if they didnt brag on facebook. i especially hate when someone complains that someone didnt post something online just to make themselves look good.

I agree. I don't see this as an FML. OP, take it that your parents knew you would make it to senior year, so they don't have to talk about how proud they are that you managed to do it.

Well... That's nice too. At least they're proud of you.

IMO this is much better than a social media post nobody is going to remember anyway. But this makes a great story for years to come!
Meggston 17
Not really a great story. More like: "My parents gave me a high five once for doing the right thing." "That's... Cool." Know what isn't cool? Unrelated replies.

21: How was her reply unrelated to yours? I think it fit pretty well.
Meggston 17
How? It sounded like she's just replying to the original post.

Be proud of yourself--you don't do drugs and it's your last first day too!

So... parents who didn't have access or exposure to social media in the older days didn't care about their kids? Sorry #5, this was not meant to be a reply to you but on the post... won't let me change it. Agree with you on this point!

High school is just another step in reaching yot full potential. It's not THAT special. When I finished mine, my parents only congratulated me and i didn't expect more than that, I knew I had to finish. It was more an obligation than some special acomplishment (probably spelled it wrong) to me.

*accomplishment*

I'd say it's an accomplishment. High school is a hard time for a lot of people, and finishing school is the end of a big part of our lives.

Its definitely hard and everything but it's still probably the easiest part of your life after which you have to go to college or start paying bills and have to take care of yourself/live on your own (for some).. It's an accomplishment, yes, but looking back, it was pretty easy.

Depending upon where you go to school, not doing drugs could be a big accomplishment.

It is here! When I graduated I was 1 out of about 4 that wasn't doing drugs and/or having (had) babies. There were 16 in my class.

I suppose this isn't really as different as the first day of kindergarten photos, but this still seems... really unusual (at least to me). Feel lucky, OP. Your parents might be the only sane parents left.
