Today, my rental car had an automatic rear hatch. That sounded helpful until I used it and it emptied $60 in just-purchased groceries for the week on the parking lot pavement. The jars and jugs weren't ready for the leap. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
New fangled car technology
Today, I have a RAV4 with a power hatch that randomly opens when the key is in my pocket, and it has trashed my garage door. Good news: I can stop paying for garage door repairs by paying to convert the hatch to manual instead. Oh, and I was supposed to move a bunch of stuff out of storage tomorrow. FML
Today, my car's parking gear and parking brake failed. I watched as it rolled down a big hill into someone's 2017, $30,000 camper. FML
Today, I got a rental car because my car needed new tires and I had a long drive ahead of me. Today, the rental car got a flat tire. FML
Today, I rented a car that has a smart key. The proximity of the key determines if the doors will unlock. I went to a meeting and returned to the car with the trunk popped open and all my luggage gone. The rental company decided to store a spare key in the glovebox for safekeeping. FML
Today, I was loading a very large box into my hatchback. I was really struggling, and a few people walked by and laughed. Then a car pulled up and waited for the spot. There isn't a spring to hold my trunk open, so it slammed onto my head. Twice. The car honked for me to hurry up. FML
Unforgettable
Today, I bought a fancy reusable water bottle because I wanted to stop buying plastic ones. On the first day, I left it on the roof of my car while loading groceries. I remembered it when I heard a loud clunk at the next intersection. FML
Bad call
Today, I tried to carry all my grocery bags in one trip. I was doing great until the plastic handles stretched and snapped in the parking lot. A carton of eggs exploded, an avocado rolled under a car, and a bottle of wine shattered. Someone asked if I needed help. I said no because I was too embarrassed. FML
Overconfident
Today, I tried carrying all my groceries inside in one trip. I succeeded, but also succeeded in tearing the handles, dropping everything, and rolling a can of soup straight under my neighbor’s car. Never trust cheap tote bags. FML
Today, I took a trip to Wal-Mart. There's a car wash that they conveniently built right outside of this Wal-Mart. So as I was leaving, I decided to make use of this car wash, not even thinking about the $200 worth of groceries I had just purchased. I drive a pick-up truck. FML
Trashed
Today, my car alarm went off so I went outside to investigate. Apparently, the abundant rain water in my street had swept a trash can five houses down, only to be stopped by my car. My bumper was dented by a run-away waste receptacle. FML

I spend about $200 for two people for a whole month

At least it didn't spill in the rental car, right?

I don't get how all the stuff came out of the trunk :/ I've driven with my trunk open and nothing even moved

If your car has a deeper trunk, that wouldn't be an issue. My neighbour has an Equinox. She has to keep that meshy thing in place to prevent items from falling out if it's too close to the edge.

If it's a trunk then it shouldn't be an issue. However on a SUV, wagon, or something along those lines, there isn't any sort of roll up on the bottom to keep things in, they're typically flat.

Why did you drive with your trunk open, #15? Lol.

After a quick search on Google, the conversion has come out from 65€ to $72. About dead on

Cost of living is going to make a difference here as well--food prices vary wildly.

They're neat, but maybe as you were driving, the groceries slid up against the door, & thus avalanched out of your car as it opened... sucks.

Am I the only one confused as to what the automatic rear hatch actually did? It sounds to me as if it merely opened the trunk.

Right. Lol. Too embarrassed to say it.

I'm with you. I would think that an automatic hatch would prevent groceries from ending up on the ground since you could open it when your arms are full. Unless you do something silly like placing your bags on top of the hatch
catherinecas 30
I think the groceries were leaning on the door and since it was an automatic you couldn't keep it sorta closed while you desperately tried to shove the groceries farther back.

Just another thing to go wrong. Sometimes, automation is just pointless.
redpanda39 10
Pretty sure that would've happened whether the hatch was automatic or not. A door opening automatically doesn't make bags of groceries jump out of the back of a car.
