Today, my parents were supposed to take me out to eat for my birthday, but since their favorite child wasn't with us, I instead got a mini order of tots from Sonic as my birthday meal/present. FML

Today, my parents took me out to dinner. I thought they were taking me because it's my birthday. Turns out they are getting divorced. They forgot it was my birthday. FML
Today, I found out I can't go to my best friend's birthday party. To cheer me up, my parents decided to take me and my brother to my favorite pizzeria for dinner. When I was ready and went downstairs, I discovered they left already. They forgot me. FML
Today, I begged my parents not to take me to a restaurant for my birthday, but sure enough, they took me to one, along with my siblings, aunts, uncles, you name it. Ordering with them is a nightmare, so after a whole half-hour the waiter still hadn’t gotten everyone’s complicated orders written down. FML
Today, I walked into a restaurant with my parents to celebrate my Mom's birthday. They immediately got a kid's menu and crayons out for me. I'm 15. FML
Today, my family took me to a steak house. I went for an eight minute bathroom break, coming back to an empty table. They ordered dessert, and left me the bill. I'm a vegetarian, and it's my birthday. FML
Today, it's my mom's birthday. I woke up at midnight to be the first to tell her happy birthday. When I awoke in the morning, I decided to bake her a cake. Little did I know my whole family was going out to lunch to celebrate. I wasn't invited. FML
Today, it's my 16th birthday. My parents forgot about it, and planned a weekend out of town. I was alone on my birthday. FML
Today, it’s my birthday. My family tradition is that whoever has the birthday chooses the dinner. I chose pizza, but my older sister had a tantrum, complete with throwing my phone at the wall, breaking it, saying she wanted Chinese instead. My parents ordered Chinese. FML
Today, it's my birthday. My wife took me to my favorite restaurant for dinner. She made me pay for my birthday dinner, along with hers. She also got me a gift card to HER favorite store. FML
Today, it was supposed to be my birthday dinner with two of my friends. They're both now bringing their boyfriends, so I get to be the fifth wheel to my own birthday dinner. FML

The same sort of thing happens to me all the time, since my sister is the favorite child. To give you a hint, the only thing I got for my 18th birthday was a free razor in the mail, and they're currently planning a huge party for my sister and 30 of her friends for her birthday. My advice to you, OP, is to find some good friends and stick with them, and maybe move out ASAP, talking to your parents about this will only make them angry if they're like my parents. To answer your question #6, they do so to make their favorite child feel better. My parents have openly said that they've always wanted a girl. I'm just around to do chores and for people to yell at when they're frustrated.

Thats exactly like my bf. He's there for chores and got nothing for his 21st birthday but his sister got a car, an iphone and a huge party for her 18th... She also got a car on her 16th. All rego is paid by her father.

My sister is about 21 months younger than I. When we were in our 20s, for one birthday, my mom took my sister to Europe. She got me a shitty Olympic-themed watch she wore to events at the 1996 Olympics because she thought it would "mean" something. Yeah, a used watch.
