Today, my morbidly obese mother gave me an angry lecture at dinner, saying without any trace of irony that my vegetarian diet is "unhealthy and utterly unacceptable". FML

Today, I scolded my son at a buffet after he pointed at an obese woman in a motorized wheelchair and asked how anyone could let themselves get so unhealthy. As I lectured him on genetics and thyroid problems, she rolled past with a plate stacked with an obscene amount of fried food. FML
Today, my stepmother, an uncontrolled diabetic who refuses to change her abhorrent eating habits, berated me for how "mean" I am for limiting my kids’ junk food, and making them eat a portion of vegetables with every meal. Yeah, real mean. FML
Today, despite feeling healthier than ever, losing fat, gaining muscle and having perfect blood results, my morbidly obese relatives keep telling me that my new vegan diet is "unhealthy". FML
Today, I had to sit and listen in mortification as my mother tearfully told our therapist how much sleep she loses over my being morbidly obese. She doesn't seem to care that I'm body positive and happy with the way I am. FML
Today, after I skipped dessert for the third day in a row, my mom cornered me and accused me of being anorexic. I'm actually not far off being clinically obese and I'm just trying to diet, but nothing I say will convince her. She wants me to see a psychiatrist about a disorder I don't even have. FML
Today, I asked my mom if she could include mashed potatoes and gravy with dinner. She then went on to yell at me about my "unhealthy eating habits" and how I've "gained a lot of weight in the past few months". I'm pregnant. FML
Today, I told my mom that I think I’m anorexic and she told me she didn’t care. When I asked why, in disbelief she replied, "Honey, you are 5’3 and over 350 lbs, at this point you NEED to be anorexic." FML
Today, I decided I need help, so I confessed to my mother that I'm bulimic. After she looked it up online she started screaming at me for "Wasting food that I'm not paying for." FML
Today, I found out my mother-in-law is trying to force me to lose weight, even though I am trying, and have a medical condition. FML
Today, my boyfriend called my mother stupid and angrily argued with her at a family dinner. Why? We have a long-running family joke that "Vegan food doesn't contain calories," and my boyfriend thought my mum said it seriously, and was therefore a moron. FML

I think being a vegetarian is utterly stupid but if you keep to yourself about your meal choices and don't expect your family to become vegetarians then they have no business in what you eat

All 19 did was express her opinion. She never said it was a fact. Also if you look she said eat want you want as long as you don't force it on others. I sense a lot of overly sensitive butthurt vegetarians here.

we are the only animal who eats other animals that are groomed to die for us by antibiotics and way to little space... If you eat meat and byproducts eat the real thing and not the cheapest crap!

Yeah, we have that because there was a point in evolution when we needed to eat meat. We don't anymore. Plus, if you want to talk about what nature wants, let's talk about the way animals are treated in order to be food, look it up and you'll see there's nothing natural about that.

I know fully well how factory farmed animals are treated and how cruel it is. I in no way agree with it. However, a minority demographic boycotting meat and protesting eating meat won't change that, as there'll be many more people still buying meat and giving money to the companies who practice these methods; and bashing meat-eaters and trying to force them to stop eating meat, as I've seen many (not all) vegetarians and vegans do, will only provoke them to fight back in some way or ignore it. If you really want to make a difference, vote on issues or for politicians who'll work to get factory farming illegalised, and protest the methods directly. There ARE meat-eaters who care for the way animals are treated and will help back these issues up.

She might be threatened by you getting healthy. It makes her look bad and she's taking your diet as an attack on her. Of course it isn't, and you should continue your diet, but maybe she needs to know you're not judging her.
