Today, my instructor turned up late to get me for my driving test. I soon realized something was seriously wrong. Turned out his wife left him last night, and he'd been drinking the pain away all morning. He ended up rear-ending another car, and now I have to reschedule my test. FML

Today, while I was taking my driver's test, my instructor received a text message. He promptly had a panic attack and screamed for me to pull over. It turned out his wife wanted a divorce. The last 15 minutes of my test consisted of him sobbing to himself as I drove back to the DMV. FML
Today, as I was taking the driver's test to get my license, I backed into a car. It belonged to the instructor sitting in my passenger seat. FML
Today, I was rear-ended while at a stop sign, by my driving instructor. FML
Today, I was nervous as hell for my driving test. The instructor told me to drive a straight line in reverse. I forgot to put the car in reverse from drive and drove straight into a parked vehicle. Which happened to be owned by the instructor. FML
Today, I hit a parked car. It happened to be my driving instructor's car. While he was instructing me, sitting in the passenger seat. I don't think I'll pass. FML
Today, I passed my driver's test. As I was driving home, I was rear-ended. Rear-ended by the examiner that'd passed me. FML
Today, I started my job as a driving instructor. My first client showed up piss drunk. FML
Today, I had my first driving test. The instructor turned out to be the kind of twit who made me do the full 60-minute test, only to tell me afterwards that he was failing me for the only mistake I made less than 2 minutes after the test started. Time wasting tit. FML
Today, I went to take my driver's test, and I did almost everything perfectly. The last thing was to back into a driveway. As I went to put my hand on the passenger seat to look over my shoulder, I got so nervous that I hit my instructor in the face. FML
Today, I took my driver's test. I was confident and thought everything would go well. My boss ended up calling me several times during the test. Turns out my colleague never showed up to cover for me, and my boss blamed me. Not only did I fail my test, I'm now suspended from work too. FML

I must be reading it a different way. OP didn't get in the car with their instructor. The instructor was late because he rear ended someone on the way to picking up OP.

Everyone please. It clearly states the instructor turned up late, meaning he actually made it there. OP probably hopped in so the instructor could drive to said test location, and he rear ended someone on the way. How in the hell could OP find out his instructors wife left him and he was drunk? He had to have been with him. I don't know who else would have given him that info, they wouldn't and couldn't. Boom! The end

he drove drunk, the instructor should have rang op and told him the situation rather than get in the car pissed and drive to take him for his test. He could've killed someone, I don't think op needs to be more empathetic at all
