Today, my friend spilt orange juice all over my iPad. She then went ahead to clean it off by rinsing it with water. FML

Today, my 7 year old daughter decided to use my laptop without my permission. She accidentally got SpaghettiOs on the screen, then used the hard side of a sponge, filled with soapy water, to scrub both the keyboard and screen of my laptop to clean it off so Mommy wouldn't know. FML
Today, I decided to be healthy and drink a tall glass of water whilst doing my assignment that is due in three days. I managed to spill the entire glass over my laptop. I flipped it over and used a hairdryer to dry it off. While doing that, I managed to melt my keyboard. FML
Today, while working on my laptop, I accidentally spilled a glass of water. I quickly moved my laptop out of the way of the oncoming stream. It fell on the floor and broke. FML
Today, I spilled some milk on my laptop. I was pretty sure it would be fine as it was only a bit of milk. While cleaning the residue, I knocked a whole bucket of water into the insides of the laptop. RIP Macbook. FML
Today, I spent hours cleaning the kitchen that my slob roommates always neglect. I scrubbed the floor, emptied the fridge, washed all the dishes, etc. When I was done, I was thirsty so I got myself a soda. I opened the can, and it exploded and sprayed everything I had just washed. FML
Today, I was trying to be environmentally friendly by using a reusable water bottle, but didn't screw the top on properly, so while I was chatting to someone it splashed it all over my computer and bricked it. FML
Today, my youngest decided my phone needed a bath in the toilet. FML
Today, I accidentally spilled a big glass of water on the table, where I had some papers, my cellphone, and a box of donuts. With lightning reflexes, my sister heroically jumped forward and saved the donuts. FML
Today, while mopping the kitchen, I ended up slipping and and knocked over the table that had my mom’s iPad on it. The screen shattered; I sprained my wrist. I asked my mom to take me to the ER. She called me "selfish" because her iPad screen repair would "cost more." FML
Today, my dad borrowed my new iPad to amuse him while he was in the shower without my knowledge. The iPad is now completely ruined, and my dad is refusing to buy me a new one. He says, "How was I to know that it wasn't waterproof?" FML

Does your friend know what electronics are? Cause that's a very stupid thing to do. Surround it in rice I heard to do that with phones when they get wet. Otherwise, make her pay for a new one.

it can't hurt rinsing the screen or back. it would be stupid if she let the water in via the charging, earphones hole. and I think if its turned off (idk about the electricity) it can't hurt either if you do that rice trick were others were talking about.

Sounds like your friend panicked. I have a couple friends like that who would probably do the same thing! They are as sweet as can be but do not handle a crisis well...

I don't know why Apple just doesn't make them waterproof. My cell phone is waterproof. I can drop it down in a glass of water and it still works perfect. Kyocera Hydro, for all those who want to know what kind of phone it is.

I'm gonna toss a comment up here to let y'all know that rice didn't work for my sibling's iPhone. It was in the rain for a bit, and we put it in rice for several days. No dice. Sorry for your luck, OP. I would ask for compensation from said friend.
