Today, my friend sent me a link to a "horrible" tattoo that he found online, that a guy had gotten at my tattoo parlor. FML

Today, I was showing my unique new tattoo to my friends when a man approaches me with his digital camera and asks if he could take a picture of the tattoo for his website. I agreed. I find out later that it's a site about ugly tattoos. FML
Today, I checked my Tumblr account to see if anyone had commented on the photos of my new tattoo. There were only 3 posts, and 2 of them were people linking it to "Awful Tattoo" blogs. FML
Today, I was getting my first tattoo done. My parents told me it was a bad idea. My friends' parents told me it was a bad idea. I told them that people get tattoos done all the time and nothing goes wrong. Fifty minutes into the tattoo on my back, the artist said, "Oh shit, shit, shit. We can fix this." FML
Today, my quite squeamish girlfriend came with me to get my latest tattoo. She saw a few drops of blood, screamed in the tattooist's ear, and completely fucked up part of the outline. She had to alter the tattoo drastically to cover up the mess and now it just looks bad. FML
Today, my girlfriend dumped me for the tattoo artist who gave us our matching "love" tattoos. FML
Today, I found out that the phrase I got tattooed on my lower back is misspelled. FML
Today, I was looking at tattoos and fell in love with a really cool looking one, so I decided to get it. I later showed it to a friend who is a cop. He informed me that it is a gang tattoo. I think I just put a target on my ankle. FML
Today, unbeknownst to me, my boyfriend got a tattoo of the Joker on his neck. The worst part? It's Jared Leto's godawful Joker. FML
Today, a tattoo artist send me home without tattoo because the acne on my back has gotten so bad, he refused to work on such an 'unpredictable surface'. FML
Today, I found out that my wife is leaving me for a tattoo artist. I was in rehab and she met him getting a tattoo as a surprise for me. FML

Exactly 17. Nobody thinks that blowouts and patchy shading are good quality. True, OP didn't give us much info on why it was marked as horrible but when judging tattoos, those are some major components.

I was thinking that it could've been horrible taste in what the person wanted. I've heard of really crazy tattoos that I would easily consider horrible, even though they were executed greatly. One such example is a monkey on someone's belly where the belly button is the monkey's anus.

it also could've ended up on a horrible tattoo website. The person with the tattoo doesn't have to be the one to post it there. Also I know a lot of people who can admit their ink is crap. I have one on my shoulder that could possibly be on one of those websites.

If the person who got the tattoo likes it, then it isn't such a problem OP. but maybe tell your friend that it was done at your tattoo parlour, hopefully they'll feel bad.

I have a feeling the parlor was named and that's why the friend showed him. Especially since OP said it was done at his shop, not that he had necessarily done it himself.

Like the previous posters said, artwork can be very subjective. Plenty of tattoos that I would call horrible, can be very amazing for others. I guess the question next is whether it was taste or practice. I believe taste was the issue but good luck and don't give up on your work. Continue to learn.
