Today, my dryer was finally repaired after not working for over a month. I did one load of laundry and my washer stopped working. Another day, another $400+ repair bill. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, after my washing machine broke yesterday in the middle of a cycle, I went and spent $1400 on a new one. Also today, my dryer started to smoke and almost caught my clothes on fire. There goes another $1000. FML
Dried out
Today, after spending $300 replacing a dryer and getting the vents cleaned out when our tenants complained their clothes weren't getting dry, my husband and I realized that it was actually the washing machine that was broken. FML
Fixed
Today, my husband, who repairs appliances for a living, repaired our dryer. One lot of wet clothes later, it caught fire and ruined the laundry room. FML
When it rains, it pours.
Today, my washing machine, dryer, vacuum cleaner, and laptop all stopped working. FML
Today, I finally got around to doing laundry. The washing machines in my condominium building take about an hour to do a load. When I returned to throw my clothes in a dryer, I realized they were never washed in the first place. I used my card and detergent to pay for another person's laundry. FML
Respect the warranty
Today, our brand new dryer that we scripted and saved for because we're tired of dealing with broken stuff is once again still broken. The store that sold it to us keeps canceling on us instead of coming and fixing it like the warranty says they should. FML
Wreck
Today, I paid over $500 to pick up my car from the mechanic, after it'd spent almost a month there. It broke down again on the way home. FML
Today, my furnace broke down, almost a month after its twenty year warranty expired. It would have been replaced for free. Now I'm going to have to take out a loan to afford the $4,000 replacement. FML
Repaired
Today, I paid a repairman $65 to come to my house to fix my washer. He walked in, looked at the washer, bent over and removed a large steel bolt with a bright red tag sticking out the side that said, "Remove before use." He then looked at me and said, "All fixed." FML
Today I remembered to put my work uniform in the wash; as I hit start I got an email notification. My landlord confirmed that the engineer will be out to fix the washing machine tomorrow after my housemate reported it as broken. My clothes are locked in the machine that now won't turn on. FML

Might be less expensive to buy a new one at this rate.

Maybe the Universe wants you beating your clothes on a rock on the river. Or turn Amish.

Had to read it twice just to be sure.. 1. DRYER broke, then got fixed 2. WASHING MACHINE broke, fix pending So two separate things? Or is this some all in one unit? Either way, sucks to be you. But all things considered, if they are individual units, probably would've been more financially savvy to get a new unit. Especially with those repair costs.

Is reading THAT difficult for you?

Clearly reading, or at least reading comprehension, is that hard for you also. The way I first read it it seemed like they have a washer/dryer combo where the dryer capability wasn't working, they got that fixed and then the washer capability died in the butt; purely due to the insane repair costs cited. You can get a new unit for that unless $400 is actually cheap by comparison, which I really only see for washer/dryer combos. So.... stamp for effort?

Get an old dryer from a used appliance store. The newer ones are complete junk.

I’d say that the repair guy didn’t fix it correctly. He should come back and fix it.

You could buy 2 washers and dryers for $800

OP here. The washer turned out to be a much less expensive repair, and both are now working better than they ever have before. It would have been $1000+ to replace the dryer, I looked into that before doing anything else.
