Today, my boyfriend called me and I told him about the AnimeCon I'm attending, and that I wanted to go as Sailor Mars, he told me he had no idea what that was. After being mad for about ten minutes, I realized that I wanted to break up with him over not knowing what Sailor Moon was. FML

Today, my boyfriend introduced me to his parents and siblings for the first time. Their first reaction was, "Oh? You're her? All this time we thought you're some cartoon character from yet another lousy anime he keeps babbling about." FML
Today, at a Con, I saw a girl in an impressive cosplay of a character from one of my favorite video games. I complimented her on her costume and got a picture with her. Later, my girlfriend called me a cheating creep and broke up with me. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me, because apparently I need to "grow up". He's the one who excessively plays Call of Duty and still has Pokémon and Bionicles in his room. FML
Today, my boyfriend dumped me for knowing more about Batman than he does. He's only seen some of the movies, and as a kid my dad owned a comic book store. He still doesn't see why I should know more, because I'm a girl, and "girls aren't supposed to know about superheroes." FML
Today, I went to a wedding with my boyfriend. He became moonstruck with one my friends and said she looked sexy in her dress. The whole night, I was nonexistent to him. He’s now confused as to why I’m giving him the silent treatment. He literally has no clue. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I broke up because we got into a fight over what color that confusing black and blue and white and gold dress was. FML
Today, I went to go meet my boyfriend at a restaurant to tell him it just wasn't working out. Before I could do so, he proposed. I had to tell him no, so he started to cry and ran out. Everyone looked at me like some kind of monster. FML
Today, my boyfriend of two years said he would finally take me somewhere romantic. I spent my day at a Star Wars convention. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I had the worst fight of our relationship, and I’m not sure we’re going to make it. Why? Because out of all his hobbies and interests that I’ve happily joined in on, I said I had no interest in Harry Potter. FML
Today, I told my husband we could have a "him" day, visit the comic book and games stores, then watch anime. He refused to believe I was genuine, and asked what bad thing I did that I was trying to make up for. We ended up not doing any of it because he thinks I can’t be nice to him without a motive. FML

Breaking up with someone over an anime is dumb. But #252, you rock. Evangelion is my life's obsession. I don't care what anime haters say either. I'm a girl, love one or two animes for the simple reason that I enjoyed them (not to seem "above" other people who don't know anything about them), and take Japanese because I love the language! I had zero interest in anime when I signed up to take the language. Just watch what you like people!

wow. thats sad. well actually YOUR sad. i mean you seriously wanted to break up with him for not knowing? ****. if my boyfriend had that mentality i wouldnt be with him [which would suck]. hes a huge yu-gi-oh fan and now that ive been dating him for almost 9 months obviously ive picked up the jest of it, but i still dont honestly give a **** or care much for it. but i also dont mind it because it is something that makes him happy. i mean the only reason you should have debated breaking up with him is if he was like "wtf thats lame" or something else along those lines because as your bf he should moderatly keep what he thinks at bay [its what i do as a good gf, be honest just not brutal]. but you cant blame him for not being a anime fan, or a moderate **** for enjoying sailor moon as a child.
