Today, my boss asked me if I could work this weekend, doing the work of 2 people, for almost no extra pay. I had a weekend out with my kids planned, so I said I couldn't. My boss called it a shitty excuse, yet gave a free pass to a guy who claimed he had a "phobia of working on weekends". FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boss asked me to work over the entire weekend. That would be fine if I didn't already work a 60 hour week. He also said the extra hours on the weekend wouldn't be paid. FML
Today, I got a call from my manager saying that I won't need to work this weekend. Too bad I already cancelled a family vacation because he threatened to fire me if I didn't work this weekend. FML
Not getting it
Today, I got into an argument with my boss about the importance of a decent work/life balance. He then asked me to work overtime on a Saturday. FML
Germaphobe
Today, my boss made me cover for him by working two extra hours, because he had to rush home early to deal with an "emergency". The emergency was taking a shit, because he claims to have a phobia of doing them anywhere but at home. FML
Teamwork works
Today, I had a huge amount of work to get through. Two colleagues offered to help, because one had nothing else to do, and the other couldn't work until I was done. My boss got really pissed at me for "making" them do my job and wasting their time. FML
Get off your ass
Today, my boss told me I have to start work 4 hours early tomorrow, because that my coworker, who happens to be his son, will not be coming in because he's "too tired". I work 10 hours a day, 6 days a week without complaining. His son works two 4-hour shifts a week. FML
Today, my boss took back my week off because he wants to take a spontaneous Caribbean vacation with his wife, which is "clearly more important" than what I was going to do. I needed that time off so I could be with my Dad in hospice. FML
Taking the mickey
Today, exactly 19 seconds after I logged on, my boss Zoom-called me to let me know 3 people are out sick, probably until Monday, so if I wouldn’t mind doing their work as well so we don’t fall behind, within working hours, no overtime available. He wasn’t happy when I told him no. FML
Today, my boss asked me to pick up an extra shift. I said I couldn't because I have a date. He told me I didn't need to lie and to just say no next time. FML
Today, after realizing I had 130 unused vacation hours, I requested two weeks off. My vacation time was denied, but my boss still gave me the time off. So I don't have work for 2 weeks, all unpaid. FML

yeah but what even would you call that one? weekaphobia? endaphobia? shittyexcuseaphobia?
leopardwilliam 22
I don't think it'd be shittyexcuseaphobia because then he'd be afraid of a shitty excuse which is clearly not the case here

The boss probably didn't wanna be in hot water about making a guy do something he claimed to have a phobia for.

It's a real thing! Don't discriminate!

Your boss is a real jerk. One reason he is probably treating you this way is because he may be getting down to his last few people to ask and all of them have said no. So he may feel he needs to pressure you into the job.

If he was really pressured he wouldn't have let the phobia guy go.

Maybe the "I have the weekend planned being with my kids" is a phrase he hears amongst the lazy at your job. Again I say, I am terrible at commenting in my opinion.

If you say you're terrible at commenting at the end of every comment, you should probably just keep to yourself..
leopardwilliam 22
Saying you're terrible at commenting doesn't give you sympathy it makes people want to thumb you down more

Don't worry, #7, you'll get better at commenting. Just don't say stupid stuff that nobody wants to hear :)

I think she should comment what she wants to, not what others want to hear

I get the feeling your boss doesn't like you for some reason... Sorry you have to deal with a boss like that, but enjoy your weekend. =)
