Today, I woke up with chest pain. It hurt just to breathe, but my parents made me go to school anyway. We're now sitting in the emergency room. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to the emergency room with chest pain. I didn't have a heart attack, but I now have a broken nose after passing out and face-planting in the waiting room. FML
Today, I woke up my friend and had him take me to the ER. I had trouble breathing and my chest hurt, so the doctor put me on an EKG and took X-rays. I had strained my chest lifting weights at the gym earlier that day and pulled a muscle, and now thanks to my massive anxiety I have a $700 hospital bill. FML
Today, I spat up blood and had horrible chest pain. My mom still made me go to school, claiming she needed to take the cat to the vet instead of taking me to the doctor. FML
Man up
Today, I woke up with horrible pain in my gut. It got worse and worse, and I started vomiting from the pain. My mom said it was the flu and that I needed to "man up." It turned out to be appendicitis, and I'm now typing this from my hospital bed. FML
Drama alert!
Today, I complained to my parents about chest pains. My mom said, "For fuck’s sake, it’s our day off. Can we just have ONE day without your drama?" Turns out, I was actually having a heart attack. She still won’t apologize, and is in fact mad at me for having a heart attack on her day off. FML
Are you sure?
Today, I went to see a doctor because I have been feeling of pressure in my chest. After running numerous tests, I was told I was perfectly healthy and had nothing to worry about. I made it as far as the front door before I collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital. FML
Today, I was in class and felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I began to scream and cry because the pain was horrible, so the teacher called 911. After being rushed to the hospital, I was told that "I had gas cramps and would be fine." My whole class was listening on speakerphone to make sure I was ok. FML
Today, I woke up feeling ill. My mom sent me to school anyway, and grounded me for "lying" about being sick. As soon as I got to school, I began vomiting blood. FML
Fine, I'll wait
Today, I was in agonizing pain and couldn't move. My parents said they couldn't take me to the ER until the football game on TV was over. FML
Sinking feeling
Today, I couldn't find the keys to open the store I work at. The resulting stress gave me chest pains that ended up sending me to the hospital. I still missed work and my father found the keys under the passenger seat in his car. The same seat I sat in on the way to the hospital. FML

Whatever it is, it's not life threatening, or you wouldn't be still sitting in the waiting area posting FMLs.

But did you die?

Oh no, I hope that you're ok, OP! It might be a lung wall infection, or something....I've had those before, they're not very nice :( But luckily, they're not serious....I just hope that what you have is something minor and something that can be dealt with. Crossing my fingers for you, OP!

I know the feeling. I've gotten in trouble at work for changing shifts. I can barely breathe without a sharp pain in my chest.

Well honestly if I was your parents and you told me you had "Chest pains" on a day you likely had to serve detention I won't believe you either. You posted this on a Saturday and you're in the US. There isn't a regularity school day on Saturdays. The only time you would be in school on a Saturday is if you got in trouble and had to serve detention. suck about the hospital though

You do know fmls have to go through a moderation process before being posted right? So this could've occurred on a weekday.

FMLs take time to be moderated. One I posted to the site took a week to show up.

If someone is willing to ignore their kid possibly having a heart attack or pneumonia because they think they're trying to get out of detention- if that were even the case- they don't need to be a parent, and quite frankly need a firm kick to the rear. You know what a half decent parent would do in that scenario? Call the school, reschedule the detention, and take their kid to the damn ER. And if there wasn't something physical going on, that should be an indication that something is either going on specifically during detention, or that there is quite possibly something going on with the kid on a psychiatric level. Parents- and people who work with kids in general- should actually look for potential causes of "problem" behavior instead of immediately concluding that every kid is doing it for amusement.
