Today, I went to the doctor about my bruised runners toes. She was inexperienced when It came to athletic injuries, so she googled my condition. I just paid to have her tell me exactly what I had already just googled before I left for my appointment. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Not a good sign
Today, I went to see my gynecologist. She was writing my symptoms up in my chart on her computer. After a little while, I noticed that she had a confused look on her face and was reading something instead. When I took a peek at the computer screen, I saw that she was Googling my symptoms. FML
Delay, deny, defend
Today, I finally got insurance after months of paperwork, and so I went to the doctor. I was billed $873 for a "consultation" that pretty much consisted of being weighed and told to "Google it." FML
Not again!
Today, I went to see a podiatrist, two weeks after having major surgery on my abdomen, only to be told I might need surgery on my foot. FML
Today, my boyfriend surprised me by offering me a foot massage to ease my sore feet after a run. I asked for a lot of pressure. Now I'm back home in a walking boot after being diagnosed with a fractured fifth metatarsal bone. FML
Today, I was at the doctor's getting some skin scraped off the bottom of my foot for some tests. As soon as the doctor grabbed my foot, it tickled and I accidentally kicked him in the face. During this, the blade sliced my foot open. FML
Healthcare crisis
Today, I finally went to an orthopedic doctor to figure out why my sprained ankle hasn’t healed and keeps getting worse. Turns out I have stress fractures and made them way worse by walking around on them for a month, because my regular doctor told me to stop being hysterical over a sprained ankle. FML
Wow thanks, I'm cured
Today, I went to a pain specialist to get help with my chronic pain. He did not diagnose anything or discuss causes. He then said, "Good luck with that" as I left. Of course, I still got billed. FML
Fraudology
Today, even though I know better than to trust doctor Google on any kind of diagnosis, and with my chiropractor and doctor being completely clueless as to what my constant pain in my right buttock was, I found piriformus syndrome. A condition that perfectly mimics sciatica nerve pain. How did my chiropractor miss this? FML
Doctor Google
Today, my mother-in-law 'corrected' me while I was trying to help her father with his Parkinson's medication. She went on and on about how she read on the internet about it. I'm a neurologist, but no, she knows better after a Google search. FML
STOOOOP
Today, I had surgery done to fix an ingrown toenail. When the doctor started cutting the nail, my toe wasn't entirely numb. FML

I'm pretty sure there is a clause in malpractice for these kinds of situations.

That's pretty unprofessional. She should have asked for a consult or referred you to a specialist. When I had mono, the doctor at my university's student health services told me to google it. But that was mostly because you can't treat mono itself, only the symptoms. He was able to make some suggestions himself, but said to look online if I wanted to know more.

You've convinced me. That makes a lot of sense. I think I'm a little biased against general practitioners because I'm in the mental health field, and their treatments for mental disorders tend to be less effective than treatment from a psychiatrist or psychologist. Also, as a former runner, I suspect that if the OP is bruising her toes, she's running in a way that puts too much pressure on them, and probably would have benefited from being able to see someone who could help her correct her form. So if the doctor could at least have told her to see a trainer in addition to treating the bruising, that would have been good too. Surely you can agree that teaching someone how to run isn't a general practitioner's job?
