Today, I went to a new dentist because I've been experiencing occasional toothache. Upon seeing my x-rays, he noticed something odd. Apparently, during a root canal a while ago, a piece of an instrument broke off, and has been lodged within ever since. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
8 out 10 dentists
Today, after having toothaches for about two years, which persisted even after I had the crack in my tooth repaired, I went to a different dentist and it turns out that the actual culprit is a hole in the neighboring tooth, which has had years to grow, unnoticed under the edge of my gums. FML
Woot Canwal
Today, it was the fourth time I've had major dental work done, because my dentist messed up my root canal. After almost a dozen needles, three missed work days, over $1,000, and 2 broken tools, I only have a tiny, barely-successful filling to show for it. FML
No pain, no gain
Today, I went to the dentist to get a cavity filled. The numbing medication didn't work, so I felt everything. I was in so much pain that I accidentally bit down on the dentist's finger, causing him to yell in agony. Now, I have to find a new dentist. FML
Strike while the iron is hot
Today, I had an appointment with my dentist to check for cavities. He told me that most of my teeth have cavities, and that I may need a root canal. In fact, I ended up actually getting a painful root canal. FML
Today, I went to the dentist after 24 hours of severe tooth pain. They did an emergency root canal. After the anesthesia wore off, within minutes, the pain returned only worse than before. Called the dentist, I had to return, only to find they had done the root canal on the wrong tooth. FML
What's the tooth?
Today, I asked my dentist to have a look at the tiny crack his colleague repaired a few years ago, because it’s giving me trouble again. He looked in my mouth, took an X-ray, and could find neither the crack, nor the corresponding filling. FML
Today, I got a root canal. It wouldn't have been that bad if the dentist hadn't performed it on the wrong tooth. FML
Oops
Today, I went to the dentist to have two cavities filled. I hate going to the dentist. After he'd started drilling, I heard a "clunk" noise followed by an "Oops." My dentist had cut my tooth in half. Now I have to get surgery to have the tooth extracted. FML
Bite me
Today, after two root canal procedures done on the same tooth in last two years, the tooth had been acting up for a few days, so I went in to get it checked. Turns out, it got infected AGAIN and I gotta get a THIRD root canal done on the same tooth. FML
Today, I was told I need two root canals. This is because my previous dentist did such a bad job on one of my teeth that the decay went through and transferred to its neighbor. FML

Same thing happened to me. He broke the instrument, failed to clean out the infection and didn't tell me. The tooth shattered below the gum line so I needed a shot of morphine in the bum and an emergency extraction the following day. The weakness this caused meant the tooth next to it cracked. I now need an implant to ensure I can chew on the right of my mouth. Total cost $8000.

Same thing happened to me a couple months ago and my new dentist noticed it in the X-rays. I raised hell. What these people that are suggesting op should sue do not realize is that before any procedure at a dentist office you sign a paper to consent and there's fine print saying you cannot Pursue legal action for this type of occurrence. I found this out the hard way as well. Matter of fact I still have it in my gum because my new dentist didn't want to have to cut open my gum line again if it wasn't presenting a MAJOR problem. Good luck op

There's got to be some way around that fine print on the contract. Have you actually spoken to a real lawyer about it? It's my understanding that sometimes contracts can be too unreasonable to be legal. I'm no lawyer, so I don't know, but I hope you've looked into this problem thoroughly and not simply taken the word of the first person you talked to about it. Also, why wasn't your new dentist willing to do the procedure, assuming you were willing to pay for it?

You could sue them for all they are worth.
