Today, I was walking to the pet store to buy a month's worth of fish food for my fish so I wouldn't have to come back for a while. For fish food it was expensive. It was also surprisingly heavy and I had to carry it back to my house. When I got home, I saw my fish floating at the top of its bowl. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I bought a new Siamese Fighting Fish. I was so happy with my new fish so I bought him an expensive lovely bowl, some weeds, and a toy for the bowl. I left the room to get the fish food. When I returned, the fish was gone, and the cat was sitting on the table. FML
Today, I bought a fish. I put the tank on top of the fridge so my cat wouldn't get at it. I'd forgotten to buy some things for its tank, so I quickly ran out to get them. When I got home, I saw the tank destroyed on the floor, and my cat devouring my fish. I had the fish for less than an hour. FML
Today, I bought a new goldfish. While leaving my fish on my balcony to go get fish food, I hear a loud squawk and splash, I race outside to see a bird flying off with my fish. FML
Today, I went to the supermarket; it was taking me ages to walk home because of the heavy food bags. Halfway home, I realised I had gone in my car. I had to walk all the way back to get my car. FML
Today, my mom was criticizing how I can't handle taking care of any living thing because I'm too irresponsible. We had a huge argument so I went back to my apartment, only to find that my fish had died. I forgot I had a fish. FML
Today, I heard a loud crashing noise. I ran into the kitchen to see what it was. My cat had knocked over my fish bowl and had my Beta in her mouth. After scolding her and rescuing it, I decided to clean its bowl. When I went to dump some of the water in the sink, my fish went down the drain. FML
Today, I came home to my boyfriend emptying his bowels into my aquarium. FML
Impatient fish
Today, two of my daughter's fish died after owning them for a year. Yesterday I spent $400 on a new bigger fish tank so that they would be happier. I built the stand, set it up, and got everything running. All I had to do was let it run for a week so that the pH would be fine for them, and then move them across. FML
Today, I woke up in my living room after having a party. I then realized my fish tank with many different species was missing from its usual spot. After searching for a few minutes, I finally found it in the freezer. FML
Today, I bought a fish bowl and a fish for $15. I brought him home and sat him on my desk. Everything was going well until the shelf gave out and his bowl slid off of the shelf... onto my $2,000 computer. The computer is fried and is not covered by the insurance, the fish is fine. FML

I think you've been using DOG FOOD to feed your fish. That pretty much explains everything you said.

I have to call fake. Sorry. A small container lasts several months for my -three- fish. And fish don't die randomly unless you were taking bad care of it... let's say, um, FEEDING IT SO MUCH TO MAKE IT NEED 50 LBS OF FOOD A MONTH.

R.I.P. lil' buddy.....

I have two fish and the food I have for them is in a very small, lightweight container, and I anticipate that the food will go bad before it's all gone. Not to mention it will probably last for the duration of several fish.

Seconded - fake or incredibly stupid YDI. One normal size container of flake food (or even pellet food) will last easily a month, if not more with SMART feeding.
koda_fml 0
My container lasted till the fishes died. I still had half left lol.

Fake. One container of fish food will last longer than a month unless a) you have a pirhanna or a small shark or b) you overfeed your fish (this might explain the death) .

#86 not every fish eats flakes/pellets. he probably had a piranha or something that eats goldfish. #102 Your a douche.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like a YDI/ exaggeration.... Fish food is cheap, except for bigger fish who eat things like goldfish....but who buys a month worth of gold fish and walks them home? (and if you do YDI) It does not weigh much If its un-opened and you have the receipt you can get a refund (even if you dont have the receipt....go right back, if they remember you they will give you a refund) Also fish are usually cheap.....but a new one If its some rare fish that cost a lot, that eats heavy food that also cost a lot then I am sorry, FYL, but it seems more just like a good story. In the end, it seems more like an F the fishes life to me.

YDI FOR HAVING A FISH

**** YOUR life! How bout **** the fishes life! You care more about the money than the fish!

I had to buy a rather large bag of food for my fish. A Pacu, about 14 inches long, and 9 inches tall. Koi eat quite a bit as well. Any one of a dozen varieties of fish. Actually, my pacu died a little more then a month ago, I was quite devestated. Burial and cairn and everything.

.... if it was in a "bowl", it was not a piranha or a shark. ... YOU'RE an idiot. Learn to spell.
hollyberry246 0
did you own like, sharks or something? fish food isn't heavy.... : /

just cos it was floating doesn't mean it was dead,,you could just have fed it too much,,check it before you flush it!
fckinbowdown 0
just return the fish food or get a new fish. either way is a win
mjoep1996 4
this I a fake. if it was a Pirana or a shark, it would not be in a bowl. I have a fish and I feed it twice a day. I've had it for 3 months and I only used a quarter of my food. you are a douchbag.

it drowned

The fact OP stated the fish was in a bowl says a lot. Not only does it prove it wasn't a large fish BUT no fish should be kept in a bowl. you can't get proper filtration in a bowl and unless you stir the water to keep oxygen in it, and do routine water changes, the ammonium levels from fish waste and the left over food that the fish doesn't eat and settles on the bottom get so high that it can kill the fish. YDI for not having the proper knowledge on fish care
fretforyerlatte 0
that is a bummer, but i guess just get another fish. they like to go belly-up for no reason. at least you're all set up!

I've had a feeder goldfish for over seven years, and it's still fine. Fish die because of stupid people not caring for them properly.
larrena2377 26
There's always a reason. Usually people just don't know proper fish care. It's more difficult than it seems.

The lifespan of a healthy goldfish is averaged 25 years, but most fish such as killifish and bettas only live for 2.

well now you know what you're eating for the next month.

Ahaha so true! The way you said it was just perfect too. You and #61 made my night (pretty sad, huh?)
skullfuckery 0
maybe it died because you're cleary overfeeding it if one months food for one fish weighs that much.
fretforyerlatte 0
that's true. i hadn't thought of that. there are six fish in our tank and the small shaker lasts over a month. wtf are you feeding it, rocks?
emzy08 0
it could be a bigger fish. i work at pet store and we have a lot of fish food that is really heavy.
madzi 0
A month worth of fish food for my fish is about half of a tiny, 6 ounce container. -.- Guess what? It's been alive for 3 years.
georgei 0
I have two fish. 6 oz feeds them for almost a year
leaps5879 0
Just go and buy a new one.
manoverboard 0
Seriously, fish food is not that heavy. And for one fish? A little container should last for a while.
kazul 0
buy another fish. duh.
