Today, I was proposed to, under the condition that I "get thin" first. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Nice guy
Today, I asked my boyfriend of 5 years when he was going to propose to me because I wasn’t getting any younger. He responded with, “Well, ask yourself are you getting any skinnier? I need a trophy wife, you know?” FML
Today, I told my boyfriend that I didn't want to go out with him because I was having a fat day. After ten minutes of fighting, he threw a ring box on the floor and stormed out. I basically refused his proposal because of my body issues. FML
Today, I was proposed to in a McDonald's. FML
Today, my boyfriend of a year and a half informed me that he had "accepted" my stomach, even though it didn't conform to his "preference" for a flat stomach. He then added that his acceptance doesn't extend to my "chunky thighs". FML
Today, my boyfriend proposed to me by tossing the ring at me and saying "Here, wear this." FML
So romantic
Today, my boyfriend proposed to me by handing me a ring and saying, "Let's get this dumb shit over and done with." FML
Mr Romantic
Today, I was doubting my boyfriend's feelings for me, so I asked him if he found me attractive. He replied, "Well, you're thin enough…" That's all. FML
Today, my fitness trainer husband told me that if I could not make the commitment to stay thin, he could not make the commitment to stay with me. FML
Red flag
Today, the man I've liked for so long asked me out on a date. Three years ago I fell for him and he denied me unless I "lost 100lbs” Now I've lost about 85lbs (not because of him, but for myself) and he wants to give me the time of day. I still like him, but I feel like I have to watch my weight to keep him if I say “Yes.” FML
Target goals
Today, I officially completed my weight loss journey, only for my wife, who'd previously threatened to divorce me if I didn't lose weight, to tell me that she realized she liked me better when I was fat and that "you don't know what you have until it's gone." FML

That proposal deserves nothing more than rejection. You deserve nothing less than the best.

Why do you women think we need to accept and settle for fat chicks. It's not attractive, and a sign of laziness. I used to be obese, the more I lose, the more I realize that my fat self was disgusting and unacceptable . It's not hard to lose weight, work out , drink water , and cut out junk food .

If the condition is for OP to lose weight to get married, their significant other is being shallow. While sexual attraction is important in most relationships (excluding relationships involving asexuals), weight is not supposed to be that high on the list that it is stopping the person who proposed to OP from marrying them. And you're also implying that overweight people deserve scorn. For some, it's not as easy as eating healthier food and exercising. Some can only afford unhealthy food, some are working most hours of the day, and some have a health-related issue that is preventing them from losing weight. What you're saying is offensive.

Um, I'm fat and I don't think that guys need to settle for me. I don't think the vast majority of fat people have that opinion, either. But, if OP's boyfriend was going to propose to her, he shouldn't have a clause that she needs to lose weight first. That's just a douche thing to do. If he isn't ready to marry her as is, he shouldn't have proposed at all.

Sounds like it's time to dump his ass and move on.

Did he not read that bit about "for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer etc"? If he's putting conditions on marrying you, you know what he's going to do the first time something happens that doesn't please him...

If he absolutely must have her loss weight I think he should have done it differently and more casually. You could get you both a gym membership and go with her. There's other and more polite ways to motivate her without hurting her feelings or being rude.

I say no-go. Marry someone who actually cares about who you are on the INSIDE, not on how you look on the OUTSIDE.
