Nice guy
Today, I asked my boyfriend of 5 years when he was going to propose to me because I wasn’t getting any younger. He responded with, “Well, ask yourself are you getting any skinnier? I need a trophy wife, you know?” FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I was proposed to, under the condition that I "get thin" first. FML
Today, I was doubting my boyfriend's feelings for me, so I asked him if he found me attractive. He replied, "Well, you're thin enough…" That's all. FML
Today, my boyfriend is 34 years-old. We’ve been together for 5 years. He refuses to propose to me because “marriage is expensive” and “kids drain your wallet.” That would be understandable if he hasn’t spent the majority of his paychecks on March Madness. FML
Today, after 5 years of dating and not even so much as a hint of a ring on the horizon, I asked my boyfriend why he hasn’t proposed yet. His response was “Babe, I’m not gonna pay for the cow when I get the milk for free.” What does that even mean? FML
Today, my boyfriend of three years asked me if I ever wanted to get married. I said yes. He said, 'But what happens if you never find a guy who likes you that much?' FML
Today, I told my boyfriend of 3 years that I wanted to marry him someday. His response was, "Oh, OK, thanks." FML
Today, I was hanging out with my boyfriend. Everything seemed to be going well, when all of a sudden he turned to look at me with a pensive and thoughtful expression. I expected him to say something important, but instead he just said, "I was wondering, how does it feel to be fat?" FML
Today, my boyfriend admitted to purposely sabotaging all my weight loss efforts. When I confronted him, he said it’s because he doesn’t want me to get thin and turn into one of those stuck up, snobby, mean girl types that wouldn’t date him in high school. We’re in our 30s dude, get over it! FML
Today, I found out that my boyfriend was going to propose to me about three months ago. I was completely surprised and asked why he didn't. At that time, I had told him to stop looking at me like that and go buy me some damn tacos. I was 2 months pregnant then. Now he wants to wait a couple of years. FML
Today, I asked my boyfriend what he wanted for Christmas. He then told me that he would only tell me if I promised not to get mad, so I agreed. He told me that he wants me to start working out because I'm getting fat. FML

If he doesn't respect you now, do you think that will change? I agree with other posters that this should have been communicated much earlier and you would not have wasted your time. It shouldn't be any kind of role to believe you need to be a passive doormat in your relationship. Use this to go find someone you deserve. someone better.

Okay, this is kind of going to sound like a form of victim blaming, but - if you both went into this relationship with the goal, or at least the possibility of getting married, why wait five years? You could've brought it up way sooner, or even popped the question yourself. No need to wait for him to hopefully act just because he happens to be a guy.

Girl please do better for yourself and RUN! After two years and no talk of marriage LEAVE. You do not want to be married to that prick. He's the type to disrespect you at your wedding

Lets be real. A man usually decides whether they want to spend the rest of their life with someone within the first 6-12 months of dating. 5 years and no proposal? There could be two possibilities: Either 1) You’re giving him marriage benefits prior to marriage (ie. living together) so he’s not gonna pay for the cow when he gets the milk for free or 2) You got too comfortable in the relationship and based on what he’s saying, you let yourself go over the years. Ive seen relationships fail because of that. Whatever the case may be, take this as a hint and a lesson for the future. Next time, don’t repeat the same mistakes and you may end up with more favorable results (marriage.)

That's five years down the toilet. Hopefully, you have redeeming qualities beyond your looks. If not, spinsterhood is your future.
