Today, I was playing in a basketball game and blocked this kid's shot. I was really pumped up about it until I realized the kid had cerebral palsy and the coach put him on the team because he really wanted to be on at least one team in his life. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Useful
Today, I had a basketball game against our rivals. Since the starting guard had a broken ankle, I felt happy that I could finally get playing time and prove that I'm good. Instead I had to run the scoreboard for the game, because the scoreboard guy was absent. FML
Today, I was playing basketball in our company gym. I took a shot from half court, and at that exact moment, an executive walked into the gym with an important potential client. My shot bounced off the side of the backboard, off some bleachers, and right into the client's head. FML
Today, after playing on the same basketball team for eight years with the same coach, he kicked me off the team to make room for my younger brother, who I taught to play basketball in the first place. FML
Today, in basketball practice my coach was putting is in teams to run drills. He points to me and says, "You, go babysit my son by the stage." FML
Today, while playing badminton at school, I got an opponent who is mentally handicapped. Since I'm terrible at the game, I guess the teacher assumed it would be a good match. I won the match, my first victory ever. My teacher accused me of cheating to humiliate him. FML
Today, during a soccer game, some utter moron got the bright idea of trying to score a goal from his side of the field. I sarcastically made a big show of just barely stopping the ball, and nailed it off to the side. The ball hit a kid so hard in the head that he had to go to the hospital. FML
Harsh
Today, I made my school's soccer team. I told the coach that since I have diabetes, I might need to sit out occasionally. He promptly erased my name and said he didn't accept "slackers." FML
Benched
Today, my baseball team had a game and one of our best players was injured sliding into first. I'm pretty fast so when the coach called my name I grabbed a helmet assuming it was finally my chance to get in the game. Turns out he just wanted me to get ice. The entire team couldn't stop laughing. FML
Today, while playing basketball, my friend thanked me for passing the ball to him. I was too embarrassed to tell him that that was me shooting. FML
Smooth moves
Today, I was trying out for a local basketball team, so I put extra effort into showing off my baller skills. Unfortunately, I managed to hit myself in the face with the ball, knocking out one of my own teeth. FML

I don't think you should feel bad. I'd be pretty upset if I had a disability and everyone played easy on me. That would just be humiliating!

You shouldn't feel bad, you didn't know and I don't see how YDI at all. Plus, the kid was probably happy everyone wasn't just going to let him do whatever.

your life isn't ******, **** the coach's life. if he didn't warn your team about his player's disability beforehand, how were you to know? putting a kid like that out in recreational sports without letting the opposing team know what's up is asking for the kid to get hurt. edit: first!

If you don't know, you shouldn't blame yourself.

Well on the upside you treated him like everyone else. 87- Carrots don't actually help eyes, that was a rumor America started in WWII.

I hope you did flying through the air with tongue out kinda block. Would have been a thrill for the kid to see some of that action. But I kinda agree with #7. If the kid want's that real team feeling then you can't really wrap him in cotton wool. Sure, maybe don't go too hard on him (ie: tackle him if he has the ball), but getting your shots blocked is just one of the many things that makes a proper basketball game. Otherwise he might go around thinking he is the shit, challenge some guys on the street to a game and then get his ass kicked... then where would he be. Feeling a lot worse than if you just blocked his shot in the first place I can tell you that!

I'd have gone up to him afterwards and complimented him on actually getting a shot in - be a sportsman.

I agree with #2. What sucks almost more than not being allowed to play is everyone treating you like you're about to fall apart. Yeah, they might be able to make a shot, but I think they'd actually feel more like they're playing if they knew you were giving it your best. Unless the kid's really little. In which case he's not old enough to decide he prefers trying to winning, and yeah, then I'd feel bad.
