Today, I was excited to hear that I received three of my grad school recommendations in the mail from a very busy professor. They need to be submitted sealed, and of course, my nosy mom decided to open them. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got a large envelope from a college I applied to earlier. My mom, expecting big news, made my family gather round as I opened it. It ended up being a letter of rejection from not just that school, but all three campuses of the state college. FML
Can't afford this shit
Today, I was cleaning my father's study room and wondering why I did not receive my acceptance/rejection letter from a college I really wanted. I found the acceptance letter, on his desk, also approving of a full scholarship. The deadline to confirm was a month ago. FML
Today, I found out that my dad, thinking it was an advertisement, threw away a letter from the college I applied to. FML
Today, my mom called and told me I got accepted to my first-choice college. I got really excited and asked her to read me the letter. As she started to read it, she said, "Oops... uh, nevermind." FML
Formatting issues
Today, my university professor asked us to submit anonymous course feedback. I wrote three paragraphs criticizing his lectures. Ten minutes later, I realized I'd left my full name at the bottom of the page. FML
Today, I got 3 different rejection letters mailed to me from the same college. FML
Rushed
Today, I rushed to the post office to mail an important document for the study abroad program that I'd applied for, which was due in a few days. Just as the envelope slipped out of my hand and into the mail box, I caught a glimpse of the upper right corner where there was supposed to be a stamp. FML
Today, my mom asked me to take my dad's mail to him. The "mail" was divorce papers. FML
Today, my parents gave me a letter they'd forgotten about since late last year. In it was a $30,000 scholarship to a local master's program with an application due date of two weeks ago. FML
Today, my mother decided to "help me" by throwing out the stack of papers on my desk. Unfortunately, those were all my notes for my final exams. FML

wow that sucks, hope you don't miss any important deadlines. You should definitely sit down and explain to your mom that if it doesn't say her name it's not for her

Oh that sucks sooooooo bad. Don't ever let her forget how much she screwed you over. If it happens again you are obliged to file charges against her. (kidding)

Yes, the letters are supposed to be sent to me. Hence they need to be sealed with their signature over the flap.

My mom did that with all of my college letters. Imagine coming home to have your 10 year old sister tell you where you did and didn't get in!

Maybe yoou should quite being pathetic and move out of your mom's house. You're an adult now, it's time to grow up.

yeah because in a crap economy people going into grad school tend to have a few hundred thousand lying around in the bank that they aren't spending on their education or saving to buy a car or, get this, a house.
