Today, I was chatting to a co-worker, upon whom I have a serious crush. It was going really well, until he said "irregardless", as if it's actually a proper word. This grammatical abomination really ticks me off, and I actually had to fight back the urge to beat some damn sense into him. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was chatting online with a guy I really like, when he used the word "irregardless." I couldn't help but mention how little sense it makes, since it's a combination of two words meaning roughly the same thing. He replied, "lol what? your stupid." Jesus Christ. FML
Today, my colleague yet again misused the word "literally." It's driving me insane. I have to work opposite him and hear him say things like he's just "literally shit himself inside out." FML
I mean…
Today, I finally noticed that my new coworker, with whom I have to share an office, starts every sentence with, "I mean…", then a pause, then says whatever he has to say. I can't un-notice it now, and it's like hearing nails on a chalkboard. FML
Today, I pronounced FAQ as 'fuck' to my boss. I'm not a native speaker. FML
Charming
Today, I realized my coworker can't comprehend English, or any other language. When I mentioned this to a coworker, they accused me of being an ableist. This is the same person who insults him to his face, knowing he can't understand her. FML
Today, my coworker keeps loudly saying things like, "Oh, now THIS!" If I don't ask, "What?" she pouts. If I do ask, she tells me, at length and with very bad grammar, how every one of our colleagues and partners is either stupid, rude or out to get her. FML
Smart
Today, my boss chewed me out for correcting several spelling and grammar mistakes in one of his reports. The words "Think you're so damn smart, don't ya?" were uttered. I'm his secretary, and proofreading his shit is part of my job. FML
Be quiet
Today, I have a new coworker. Whenever he types something, he smacks the keyboard like its his wife's ass. It stresses me out. FML
Alexa, play "You made me realise" by My Bloody Valentine
Today, my now ex-boyfriend called me out after I spelt "realised" with an S instead of a Z. It wouldn't have been so bad, if we weren't both British, if he hadn't called me an "illiterate idiot", and if he hadn't muttered "family of morons" when my mum backed me up. FML
Today, at work, I was forced to nod and smile as a pregnant, fifteen-year-old, brain-dead Jersey Shore wannabe cussed me out for being rude by using words from a "foreign language" during our conversation. I used the word "pretentious." FML

It's a word, it just makes no sense, like inflammable

Or water! Geddit? Makes no scents...? It's ok, I'll show myself out.

I don't think your comma was necessary, while I agree your sentence could technically be independent the comma was irrelevant and unnecessary.

Bearing in mind the etymology of the word inflammable, it makes sense. It, however, does not lend itself readily to understanding, as it is easy to confuse the different types of "in-". But that doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. It means that we don't get it.

Well, holding back just 'cause you like him is silly. You aren't supposed to bottle up rage. BEAT HIM UP!!! c:

Actually irregardless is considered correct.... There are two forms this is one of them, so you should probably just you know stop being a Nazi because it's just not working out for you..
dominic1221 6
It's considered non-standard, so not a "proper" word really. It's like double negatives: acceptable in slang, just not proper English.
aron7628 5
Still, it is grammatically correct, even if it is nonstandard. It just means that it is advisable not to use it.
dominic1221 6
But still not proper, like the OP said. You see the point I'm making here?

But then, your comment is missing some things in itself...

You can't fix stupid
Tezoma 28
You could if you actually beat it into them. But that may lead to prison time, and I heard the food isn't all that wonderful.
Tezoma 28
Ahem.. Smarts, that is. Stupid should be beat out.

because why politely correct someone when you can punch them in the face?

I hate when people say that. Its like saying "without no regard."
perdix 31
I know how you feel, sister! I was ******* this beautiful woman and she said, "This is literally the best sex I've ever had!" I asked what figurative best sex would be. I lost my boner and left. People who use "literally" wrong are as much a turn-off as those who think irregardless is a word.

Irregardless is a word.
perdix 31
No, it is not. "Regardless" is a word and "irrespective" is a word, but "irregardless" is their bastard love child. If "regardless" means "without regard to," then "irregardless" would mean "not without regard to" which is an idiotic double negative. "Irregardless" is a piece of shit word like "ain't." Yes, those turds appear in the dictionary, but they ain't words!

Irregardless is a word. Stupid.

It's in the dictionary you ******* moron. It is a word, it can be spoken, read and written. Just like fucktard, fucktard!
perdix 31
#99, #111, "irregardless" is considered nonstandard. Standard English is spoken by educated native speakers and nonstandard English is spoken by fucktards.
TheDrifter 24
Not without regard to, as a phrase, appears in many official documents. Therefore I maintain irregardless's validity as a word, though it is rarely used correctly.
skittlepanda 2
but it is a word. its in the dictionary.

And it's a turn-off that you're such a stickler about grammar. I'm an English major and I try to be understanding when people make grammatical errors. Try to be understanding, because pretentious jerks like you are awful to be around. It's like you constantly have to be on your toes because if you make one minor mistake, the guy you're having sex with might actually interrupt the sex because of it. I would hate to be your friend. In fact, I would hate to know you. Stop being such a jerk and give people a break.

You need some valium.
perdix 31
It's Valium with a capital V! It's a brand name of diazepam that's made by Hoffman-LaRoche. Damn, now I'm going to have to take two!

It is a real word. Calm the **** down, you're just making yourself look like an ass.

I read the FML wrong. I retract my earlier comment.... Sorry guys! Though I DO think OP maybe overreacted a tiny bit ;P
