Today, I was at work when a cute guy came up to me and said he liked my shirt. In a desperate attempt to say something back, I said, "Thanks, I like your shoelaces." FML

Your gaze should have been directed about two feet higher

That's actually a funny and cute comment, all in one. If anything, it must have made him smile. :) Don't sweat it, Op. We all have our tongue-tied moments. This one's just yours. ;)

It could've been worse. He could've had NO shoelaces!

That's kinda cute and funny. Hope the guy laughed or smiled at you. That plastic part on the end of the shoelace is called an aglet! :D

Come on OP, We all know you have a fetish for shoes and shoe accessories. It happens. That or you were staring at his crotch and cought a glimpse of his shoe laces to avoid being pervy.

Feeling obligated to give a compliment back is always awkward. Time for a game plan. Tell him you are a palm reader. Take his hand and scribble your number. Tell him that the cosmos told you that he would be calling you later. Wink your cutest wink ever. Win.

Hey man cut him some slack. His Engrish is probably not that good. :)

30- by your Chinese username and ability to type fluent English, I would guess you originate from somewhere in south east Asia... I see a few possibilities... No doubt you were most likely joking, but you don't ask someone to lay off then make fun of the stereotypical way the victim's race is portrayed to speak. If your spelling mistake was purely accidental then ignore this, but piss off if it wasn't, eh?

"Engrish" is already a commonly used word for English that's butchered by foreigners. He didn't make it up, nor was it necessarily a reference to Japanese people (I've heard "Engrish" used for butchered English from many different countries). Calm down. And anyway, you use the internet, so how do you not already know this?

With all my quirky moments, I hope you're right.

21- He is, I also find it extremely cute when a girl gets caught up in a quirky moment and tries to fumbles out of it. ;)

I'm a girl, despite my name which is a joke, and I'd be inclined to agree. I try provoke silly off guard comments because I find the comment as well as how the person reacts says a lot about them. I suffer frequent foot in mouth syndrome myself so I've learned to laugh it off. :p
