Today, I visited my grandmother who has dementia. She thought I was my father, and told me that I should never have married my mother, let alone have had children with her. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to see my grandmother. She has Alzheimer's and doesn't remember me sometimes, and today she thought I was her sister and that I was trying to steal my grandfather from her. She hit me with a cane and called me a slut. FML
All over the place
Today, I visited my in-laws, whom I thought I was on great terms with. I soon learned that wasn't the case when my mother-in-law yelled at me about how I've been abusing her for years. Ten minutes later, she hugged me and asked me for grandkids. FML
Truth bomb
Today, 98 year-old mom with dementia thought she was talking to one of my dead sisters and not my wife, telling her she'd better never tell me who my real father really, that I ruined her marriage. She won't have me ruining her reputation, so her getting pregnant with me from an affair was my fault apparently. None of my siblings ever told me. FML
Drama alert
Today, I went to visit my grandparents, as my grandmother may not have long left. When my stepfather wasn't grilling my visibly uncomfortable grandad about Bible passages, my mother was trauma-dumping about how hard her life has been, and how awful her marriage to my father was. They're his parents. FML
Today, my grandmother told me that since my dad was a mistake, I too am a mistake. FML
Who are you?
Today, being the nice grandchild that I am, I went to visit my grandmother. She didn't recognise who I was. I thought she was joking. She later called the police as, "Some weirdo had walked into her house." I'm that weirdo; she wasn't joking. FML
Today, while at my aunt's funeral, my grandma who has terrible memory loss asked me whose funeral we were at. I had to explain to her that her daughter had died. FML
Dazed and confused
Today, no one warned me that my grandfather was slipping into dementia. I proudly brought my new baby to meet him, only for him to burst into hysterical tears that I was a teenage whore, who’s now brought shame to the family. I'm 30 and married, but he still tried to hit me with his cane. FML
Today, I told my grandmother I was planning a trip to take my newborn son to meet his great-great-grandfather before it was too late. She had a guilty expression on her face. My great-grandfather died 4 months ago and my family forgot to tell me. FML
More details please
Today, I listened to my grandma monologue about how if my uncle was born first, my mother (and consequently, I) would not exist. I then got to listen to her rant about what a terror he was. Let's just say I learned and heard some things I'd rather have not known. FML

dude dont sweat it. grandparents are like that. just slap em once in a while to get back in line, lol. I know it's bad to laugh at your own jokrd, but someone's gotta. but seriously every parent thinks their kid cold have done better. About the kid part, i'm sure she just ment commitment and sex.

I'm sure if she thought you were your father she doesn't know much of what she was talking about.

Exactly.

Precisely. My grandmother said some crazy things when her dementia got bad. She didn't know which relatives were living or deceased, she had no idea who I was, and she came out with the craziest things. I'm sure she didn't mean it. Know that it's her disease, and not really her. Hang in there, and try to love her just the same.

Dementia makes you forgetful and unaware, not a liar.

Dude she's sick... Don't feel too bad about it, at least your own parents don't feel that way.

She knew it was you, and that's her way of disowning you. So sorry :[
Ajjas013 6
She doesn't really own her in the first place. Maybe it's her way of saying "Get the **** out of my family, I have pepperspray"
MermaidSongXOXO 6
No. More like "Get out, you stupid bastard, before I throw hard-candy at your ass!"
Ajjas013 6
Or "**** back you demon child! (something about satan) *Swings walker violently*"
