Today, I sent a thank you note after a job interview, emphasizing my accuracy at editing written reports; I misspelled the company's name. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I finished doing a resume that I had spent three hours on. I e-mailed it to the business I was applying for, satisfied. I decided to look it over. The first thing I notice, I spelt my own name wrong. FML
At least they're reading them…
Today, I spent ages writing a draft press release as part of a copywriting job application. I worked really hard and read it through several times before submitting. They emailed me to point out that I'd misspelled the name of the company. Twice. FML
Today, I realized I had misspelled "Education" on all the resumes I've been submitting. FML
Thanks
Today, I got a report telling me how I had handled a mystery shopper at work. In this report, I found out that instead of saying, "Thank you" I'd said, "Have a nice day, take care." This kept me from getting a $150 bonus. FML
Today, I misspelled the word "failure" in front of all my co-workers. Now I'm not given any writing tasks. FML
Send message
Today, while messaging a possible new hire to set up an interview at my retail job, I meant to say, "Thank you for being flexible" - in regards to scheduling. Instead, it autocorrected to, "Thank you for being delicious." FML
Great quality control
Today, I got a job! When they sent me the offer letter, I sent it back ASAP after being satisfied with the salary and benefits. My problem? I wrote that I'd accepted the wrong position (in the interview it went by different names) The irony? I'm supposed to be in QC, ie., I'm supposed to have a keen eye for errors. FML
Today, I sent a cover letter to a potential employer. In the letter, I talked about my great attention to detail, my strong ability to focus, and my stellar writing skills. After hitting send, I reread the letter and noticed that I typed my name "B-R-A-I-N." My name is Brian. FML
Spelling Bee
Today, I made it onto my boss's shit-list, after pointing out that he'd misspelled "customer" as "costumer" 6 times in his report, and "college education" as "collage education" twice. It'd be a dick move on his part even if making corrections like this weren't part of my damn job. FML
Today, I was fired. For "lack of attention to details", specifically spelling errors. My now ex-boss misspelled the name of his own company on my severance agreement. FML

Shouldn't really need to bolster your image in a thank you note

Who sends a thank you note after going to an interview

a lot of people actually. interviewers spend a lot of time interviewing a bunch of dumb people. I know it's their job but they didn't have to interview you the full amount of time. it's just a nice little gesture to say hey thanks for your 20 minutes I appreciate you.

Maybe they'll think you did it on purpose and have a good laugh at it.

You should suggest that the company re-brand itself with the new name you proposed.

double check your grammar before you push submit

Spelling mistakes happen to everyone, but the company's name? That's pretty bad. You should always triple check the important stuff.

Judging from this FML, you shouldn't be an editor anyway.

The irony of this is almost painful. For one thing, you probably shouldn't be boasting about yourself in a thank you note. And if you're going to, especially about your "editing skills," you may want to try using spellcheck.
