Today, after three university degrees and a decade of avoiding social media in order to make intelligent use of my time online, I discovered that giraffes are addictively mesmerizing. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, Facebook stopped working and I realized how emotionally dependent I am on social media. FML
Today, I took my nephew to the zoo and spent the day telling him fun animal facts. At the giraffe enclosure, I explained that giraffes can't make sounds. Right on cue, one let out the loudest snorting noise I've ever heard. My six year-old nephew looked at me and said, "Maybe Google isn't always right." FML
Today, I graduated from college with two undergrad degrees in biochem and wildlife biology, with high distinction. My mom told me she had found me a job at a petting zoo. I thought she was joking. She then said sternly, "I want grandkids. At least you will meet girls there." FML
Today, while pensively thinking up my next awesome Facebook status over dinner, I finally came to the conclusion that I need to get a life. FML
Today, I had my first ever shift at the zoo. My job is to explain the characteristics and habits of various animals to the visitors. A five-year-old outsmarted me while I was talking about lions. FML
Today, while bored at work I was reading an article online about the local zoo and its animals. I received an email so quickly responded, but when signing off accidentally wrote "thanks hippo" instead of "thanks heaps". To a woman with a weight problem. Who also outranks me. FML
Today, I realised that I'm kinda living the life of a Disney princess, because I'm lonely and all my friends are animals. Yes, I also talk to them. FML
Today, I spent an hour deleting 70 of my status posts from the past week so I don't look so addicted to Facebook. Damn, I need a life. FML
Today, I'm sat at home alone on a Friday night, watching a documentary online about decomposing elephants. FML
Today, I realized I had been staring at my phone for an hour without doing anything else. When I looked up, I noticed my mom had been standing in the doorway, shaking her head at me for a solid five minutes. I hadn’t noticed her. I wish I could use this laser focus to study for my college exams instead of wasting my time doomscrolling Instagram. FML

Had you never seen a giraffe before you discovered the Internet?

Giraffes are cool to watch for like 10 min unless they are fighting. Otherwise they are as boring as the person watching them

I feel you man, I've spent more time than I'd like to admit watching April the giraffe going about her daily life.

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
I bet you were siting at home collecting a welfare check instead of working or looking for work.

That's quite the assumption

Same here Icupcake, April can steal your time away like none other. Oh, and before you jump me Jcash, I have an excellent job and work for every cent I have. That doesn't mean we have to miss out on April playing around in our spare time.

You must feel far superior to those uneducated morons who are addicted to kitten videos. How mundane!

Maybe his approach is more scientific? Wondering how this artistic piece of evolution came to be, how prominent it is and is a respected animal within its own environment. Unlike those peasants who watch kittens because they want to see furry balls make premature animal noises. Or maybe he just wants to look at a ******* giraffe because spots. Because SPOTS... are so mesmerizing...
