Today, I scored two prime baseball tickets from a supplier at work. I phoned my dad to tell him the good news. He said that's great, my brother and him would love to see the game. I said, no, I'm taking you to the game. He told me I was being selfish and hung up the phone. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Supportive
Today, I was pouring my heart out to my dad about how I'm such a loser and how I have no friends. He listened sympathetically, until his phone buzzed with a text message. He said, "Balls, the guys from work wanna get shitfaced!" and took a rain check on me. FML
Today, I found out I have to give my father-in-law back the football tickets he gave me for my birthday. Why? His girlfriend decided she wanted to go. He didn't get me a different gift. FML
It's only rock n roll
Today, I bought my boyfriend two concert tickets (of our favorite band) for his birthday. I was expecting him to bring me since I gave them to him and I like the band too. He said, "Sweet, thanks, I'll call my friend now and see if he wants to go. Think you could give us a ride?" FML
My life story
Today, I invited a friend that I hadn't seen a few years to a baseball game because I knew they're big baseball fans. They ended up trauma dumping on me for two hours.. FML
Today, I was telling my co-workers about how I'd gotten tickets to a concert in a few days. My boss overheard. Later, he told me I now have to work on the night of the concert. However, he was kind enough to offer to buy the tickets off me for half of what I'd paid for them. FML
Busted
Today, I called out of work, making an elaborate claim my wife was sick, and that I HAD to stay home to take care of her, because I have never played hooky from work before. That afternoon, at a minor league hockey game as I'm buying a hotdog with my wife, my boss from behind me asked, "How's the fam?" FML
Today, my dad was given 2 VIP tickets to see my favourite band in concert next week. You can now find them on eBay. FML
Today, I bought my girlfriend two tickets to a Broadway show that was coming through town she really wanted to see. I couldn't attend with her due to work so she said she would take her mom. I found out later she took her ex. Now they're back together, and I paid for the date that made it happen. FML
FINE!
Today, my dad and mom and I were going out to eat dinner. My dad wanted a romantic dinner just with my mom so he told me to make an excuse not to go. I did, which ended up as a huge fight, grounded and phone taken away. My dad just stood there in the background putting thumbs up. FML
Today, I went to an amateur baseball game with some family and friends. When our team hit a home run, my grandpa took it upon himself to start screaming wildly, removing his prosthetic leg and waving it jubilantly in the air. FML

umm....wow...that's a bit messed up. You were thinking of him and he calls you selfish for it?

I find it strange that everyone assumes being selfish (self-interested) is a bad thing. If you're not interested in yourself no one else ever could be! (Can't say 'I love you' without the 'I'). Your dad doesn't deserve your respect if he leeches off you like that. Take whoever's company you enjoy - your brother, a friend or girlfriend, your mom if she'd like to go... They're your tickets. Don't give them to someone else unless that's what *you* want to do.

Well said, 32. OP, your dad has no right to dictate what happens with your tickets.

I agree with #3 Take your brother. That should be good enough of a swift kick to your dad's nuts. If he refuses too, go up to your dad and rip the tickets into pieces in front of him, unless you really want to go that is.

Screw them both - take a friend.

I swear some people shouldn't be allowed to breed(no offense to your existence) so many people on this site post the cruel things their parents say/do. The last generation was too immature, and now look what's become of our generation. Not to mention parents these days are generally complete assholes to their kids.

I think you're being really selfish. Maybe your dad is just lashing out at you for not getting him a birthday present or fathers day gift from a ways back. Maybe you should think about his feelings for once and stop being so GODAM SELFISH!

Wow. If your dad is getting on in years, could he just be a bit addled? Not trying to give you a new insightful take, obviously, since you know him and I don't, but if that's the case I'd ask again if he wants to come. Still though, not the way to deal with the situation. xxjohnx5, I was going to stick up for your after your first comment because I thought it was a joke, then I saw the more obvious troll. Woops. Fol ol de rol. #31, there's quite a jump between looking after yourself and putting yourself ahead of others. If you think that the "I" in "I love you" is the most important part, might want to rethink your priorities.
