Today, I received an "I miss you" text from my ex of 4 months, who I still love dearly and would give anything to get back together with. Yesterday, I slept with his best friend, convinced I'd never hear from my ex again. FML

Today, my ex-boyfriend, who I am still in love with, sent me a text message that said, "I miss you, baby." It turns out my name comes right after his girlfriend's name on his contact list. FML
Today, I sent the texts "I love and miss you babe ;)" and "Shit wrong person" to my ex just so he would think I have a life. FML
Today, I was chilling with my best friend and suddenly I got a text from my ex saying he wanted me back. My best friend saw the text and said, "Don't go back with him, you deserve better." I wanted to go back with him but I didn't. Later, I saw them hanging out and turns out they're dating. FML
Today, I texted my ex boyfriend that I still loved him. He texted back asking if this was some sort of booty call. FML
Today, I send a text message to my ex-boyfriend, who dumped me four months ago, telling him to come back. His answer: "feeling-wise I won't come back to you, but sexually, why not". FML
Today, an ex professed her love for me. Over the last couple of months I've been talking to another ex, who I'd give damn near anything to be with again. Both cheated on me, and, thinking about it now, my only thought is, "WTF is wrong with me?!" FML
Today, I was in bed next to the boy I loved, he had just came and passed out immediately afterwards. I reached over to look at my phone but grabbed his instead and saw a text message from his ex-girlfriend that read "I love you too." FML
Today, I logged onto Facebook and saw that I had a message from my ex boyfriend. It's only been two weeks since we broke up and I assumed he sent me a message begging for me to take him back. He wanted to apologize for sleeping with my sister last night. FML
Today, my ex gave me a heartwarming speech about how much he wanted me back. After talking for hours and me finally wanting to get back together too, he started mentioning a date he has with a cute colleague. Conclusion: he wants to get back together, but still be able to fuck the entire world. FML
Today, I got a text from my ex, "I miss you." I was happy to hear this, so I replied, "Really?" I got in return, "Not really, I'm just really horny and thinking of you." FML

wow really harsh thread, when I read ops post I felt heavy hearted for her the way its worded makes me think she really didn't think she stood a chance in hell with her ex again but because she loved him she looked for him in someone else i.e his friend which may have just flourished due to ops emotional state about her ex. she obviously feels like she made a bad choice but she's human she had'nt talked to her ex in a very long time she's already kicking herself, never kick someone when they're already down. best of luck op talk to your ex explain the situation and go for broke best of luck dear.

I'm just commenting to say that she doesn't deserve it because if she was convinced that she was never going to hear from him again, it didn't matter if she still loved him. It would be something that she would have to get through by herself. The friend isn't backstabbing anyone. He slept with a single woman who happens to be his friends ex. While morally wrong, there is nothing wrong going on. No one cheated.

What's really annoying me about this one, is the reason why it couldn't be you who made the call or text to say 'I miss you'. Four months is quite a while to be missing somebody & wanting them back. Couldn't you have just said 'look babe, I'm struggling, can't we work through this?' like why not just be honest? And as for sleeping with his best friend, bad move, obviously! There's no way that's not gonna get back to your ex. Even if I broke up with somebody on bad terms I wouldn't sleep with their best friend. Everybody makes shit decisions when heartbroken, I'm no angel to that, but this one really takes a new level. YDI.

Where's the indication the the OP didn't reach out to the ex in those 4 months though? OP said she (or he, doesn't specify) thought she'd never hear from him again. Maybe because she had reached out to him and he never replied?

As for your first question it isn't always that easy. When my ex boyfriend broke up with me, I wanted nothing more than to call him and say those things. But I didn't/couldn't because I'd already made my feelings clear when he broke up with me and it didn't make him change his mind. If someone has clearly told you that they don't want to be with you, there's no point in messaging them to say you miss them. The ball is in their court.

Seems pretty funny that the day after you sleep with someone, your ex sends a text saying he misses you. I'd say he's messing with your head and your heart. If I was you, I'd run far and fast away from him and his friends.
