Today, I received a notice that if I don't move the abandoned vehicle from outside my house it will be repossessed at my expense. My car isn't abandoned. FML

Today, I got a call from a police department saying that if I didn't move my car from a store's parking lot within the next 15 minutes, they were going to tow it and charge me for the fee. I was at work and the reason I parked it there is because it started smoking and almost caught fire. FML
Today, my car was towed for the second time in front of my own house. They tried to tell me it was because they didn't think I lived there anymore. The person who had it towed had just spoken to me not three hours before. FML
Today, I found out that my Mom had taken out a loan out on my car from the repo man taking my car away. FML
Today, I got home from work to find an eviction notice taped to my door, stating that I was a nuisance and had 30 days to vacate the property. I live at home with my parents. FML
Today, I received an overdue bill for my now nonexistent car that caught fire in July. FML
Today, my car is so unreliable that I received a letter saying that it had been kicked out of the American Automobile Association. FML
Today, my boss reported to the police that a suspicious car has been parked outside the store late at night. I walked outside and my car was gone. He had my car towed. FML
Today, I got a parking ticket in the mail. I don't have a car. FML
Today, I found out that the badly-parked car without MOT, that I chose not to report, has been moved and now blocking my car in. I need to get to the shops and have no idea who the driver is. FML
Today, I rented a car via an app for a family function. Turns out it was in default and was repossessed while I was there. I had to ride three hours back home with my girlfriend's dad, who probably thinks I don't pay my bills. FML

Not if it is in a designated parking for the home, or in a driveway. At that point an HOA or anyone trying to tow it, even if it is abandoned, is considered trespassing.

Your right, if it's parked in a designated spot it is tress passing to tow the vehicle... However HOA's can cite you which can ultimately wind up in the loss of your house with many HOA's.

I don't know where you all are from but this FML just says from the "United States". The United states is composed of 50 states which hold countless counties and cities. I am sure that you three don't know every law and so cannot definitely say that this is against the law. In my small county the ordinance defines an "abandoned" vehicle and any vehicle that is inoperable OR one that has set for longer than 48 hours. It makes no mention of valid plates, or were it is parked. Yea, they can have a running vehicle towed off your own land. It is selectively enforced. We are trying to get it changed. Also, most states allow agents of the state to go on private property to serve papers and other official business. This would not be trespassing in Kentucky.

39, beautifully said. I don't know very much law, especially not concerning property since I'm not yet a home owner, but it bothers me a bit when commenters get into arguments about law where they're possibly both or neither right.

Where I live, if it's on your property they can't say shit unless several complaints arise. After they will ASK you to do something with the vehicle. My dad worked nights so his car sat on the street all day, they gave us no warning and tried to tow it since it was on a public street. After explaining the car was not inoperable and was moved everyday did they put it down... After charging us over 100 dollars. We keep everything in our driveway now.

You probably mean impounded or confiscated, not repossessed. Repossession is for cars that have value and the potential to be resold. They confiscate POS cars that are eyesores.

I don't think Ford cars are that bad. My father had a 1990 Ford Escort for many years and it was a great car, very well built. Actually, he also worked at Ford, and he still says that the best car he has ever driven was a Ford Landau.

Actualky, there was a Ford Landau here in Brazil. It used the Ford Galaxie chassis, and it was one of the most luxurious cars ever made in my country.
