Today, I picked up an extra shift at the store. It was also the day the store's ventilation system shut down, resulting in carbon monoxide poisoning for me and two co-workers. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Seize the means of production!
Today, there was a gas leak at work. We called the fire department, who advised us to evacuate the building. We called our manager to let her know, and her response was "Oh, don’t do that." My boss would rather let us die of carbon monoxide exposure than lose out on 3 hours of work. FML
Retail stinks
Today, a pipe leaked in the store I work at. I had to smell sordid waste for more than 8 hours. FML
Today, I was sick, so I went into work to see if I could get my shift covered, instead of just calling in. I ended up working an extra hour. FML
Goodbye, 7 years of sobriety...
Today a gasoline canister leaked in our work garage and filled my office with fumes. It got me high and nauseous even though I went out for air constantly. I had a meltdown and was sent home. I'm still high. FML
Today, I missed work because I was at the hospital getting treated for accidentally inhaling chlorine gas. I didn't realize that using Comet Industrial Strength Cleanser to scrub out a cat litter pan could be so hazardous. FML
Emergency
Today, I thought I had carbon monoxide poisoning because I had the symptoms and my detector was going off. I called the fire dept, they checked me, they checked my apartment. My apartment is fine; I'm just out of shape, have high blood pressure, and don't know how to work simple electronics. FML
Today, I decided to stand up to my bosses for making me lose money and work with heat stroke... while my co worker got to go home early I had to work 2 hours later. Turns out I got a supervisor in trouble for making me work when there was help allocated. Now I have to walk on eggshells, FML
Today, there was an issue with the sewage system at work. It smelled like somebody took a turd, left it in the sun to marinate, threw up on it, then put in the air conditioning to fill the store with nauseating stink. I nearly threw up multiple times because we weren't allowed to leave early. FML
Today, I was fired from the restaurant I work at because I missed my shift. I missed it because I was in the hospital for food poisoning from the meal I ate at work last night. FML
So hot
Today, the AC broke in the kitchen of the restaurant I work at. Temperatures reached over 100 degrees and one of my coworkers nearly passed out. Our boss accused us of being "dramatic" and only let us step out after I collapsed. I need this job too badly to quit. FML

Don't worry, they say it's a very comfortable way to die.

it's one of the most UNCOMFORTABLE ways to die

Comfortable or not, most of us don't want to worry about dying when we go to work.

I love comments like this. "They say..." is normally an opening into a totally uneducated or badly researched opinion sprouted as fact.

That is terrifying. Hope you're feeling fine and can make some money out of the ordeal!

You have my sympathy OP, I recently got heat stroke at work, without leaving the building, since our air conditioning broke. With at least 6 machines with large motors going and two food warmers and an oven going, well it certainly felt hotter in the store, then outside the store. It's a little better now, but still not good enough.

OMG Thank you!

Seriously, OP I wish you and your coworkers luck in your recovery. And despite what people will tell you I would hire a lawyer as you boss will try to give you the lowest amount possible regardless of what your actual prognosis is.

Did the store have carbon monoxide detectors? Carbon monoxide poisoning is a silent killer. I'm glad you and your coworkers got out in time.

I'm not sure where OP is from, but where I live we have a law that requires you to have CO detectors because it is so dangerous.

Why does nobody ask why the hell you got so high carbon monoxide values in a store?
