Today, there was a gas leak at work. We called the fire department, who advised us to evacuate the building. We called our manager to let her know, and her response was "Oh, don’t do that." My boss would rather let us die of carbon monoxide exposure than lose out on 3 hours of work. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I picked up an extra shift at the store. It was also the day the store's ventilation system shut down, resulting in carbon monoxide poisoning for me and two co-workers. FML
Today, I had a terrible stomach ache and had some pretty bad gas at work. I tried to head down to the basement for a while to allow my coworkers to continue in peace. About an hour after I came back up, my boss called pest control due to the horrible smell that "must be dead rats". FML
Today, my boss told me to not burn the place down while she was outside. When she came back inside, I accidentally started a fire. FML
Today, the workplace evacuation bell sounded. Out of panic after the recent earthquake, I ran down 21 flights of stairs, only to find out it was a false alarm. My legs are on fire, and I can barely walk. FML
Today, my chemistry professor made us all leave our classroom mid-lab because the class was complaining of the smell, and he was worried that there was a gas leak from one of the Bunsen burners. There wasn't, but it's nice to know my "silent but deadly" smelled like it might actually kill. FML
Today, my work decided to fire me. Three days ago, I sat down with my boss and asked if they could fix the sewage leak in my office, and maybe look into how loud it is. FML
Today, my neighbor was having work done in his apartment, and he'd warned me that there might be some noise. Yes, there was, what with all the town's firemen in the building after he'd ruptured the main gas pipe. FML
Today, I was driving with my boss and she held her breath as we drove past a cell tower, because she didn't want to "breathe in any radiation." I have to take orders from this moron. FML
Today, my mother told me that the carbon-monoxide alarm went off last night, but since she didn't smell any gas, she decided to just remove the batteries and go back to bed. I had to explain to her that you can't smell carbon monoxide, and that we could have died in our sleep. FML
Today a gasoline canister leaked in our work garage and filled my office with fumes. It got me high and nauseous even though I went out for air constantly. I had a meltdown and was sent home. I'm still high. FML

My boss would've done the same. 🙄

She doesn't want you to die of carbon monoxide exposure. She wants you to die of asphyxiation. Get your toxins straight!

First off your managers an idiot. So I would listen to the fire department and leave. If you had a smart manager I’m sure he could have thought of a safe way for you to continue working. With the exception of retail store job. Ex. Your a salesman/women. He could have suggested that the people who live a short time away work from home and those who don’t go to a nearby Internet cafe.

Well, evacuate the building, but leave said manager working in the CO exposure area whereupon she will then die from said(-by-her) negligible poisoning. A win, win for everybody! ;-)

I hope people have contacted the proper authorities before posting about it here

How do you get carbon monoxide exposure from a gas leak? Natural gas is definitely poisonous, but the bigger issue is its flammability, making the more pertinent risk an explosion.

I had a similar experience, only the boss ordered to close the store until it was resolved, and to instead, work on stocking and front facing. So not only was there a potential gas leak, but we had to lock the otherwise automatic doors that would at least allow you to breathe in fresh air when you walked by lol.
