Today, I mentioned to my parents that Sunday is going to be awesome because it's Christmas. They responded with "Wait, this Sunday? In 3 days?!" Apparently they forgot. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Lovely
Today, my parents forgot it was my birthday. They ordered me to scrub the common bathroom, and when I asked if they'd remembered, my dad's reaction was, "Oh! Really?" My mom's was, "I thought that it was next week." What lovely parents I have. FML
Today, I went to my dad's house for Christmas. Soon enough, my grandma had commented on how much weight I've gained, my aunt asked me why I'm still single, and my dad joined in by reminding me that I still haven't been accepted into college. Only three more days to go. FML
Today, I came home to find my parents wearing Santa hats and blasting Christmas music at full volume. So begins three months of hell. FML
Today, my mother came over to visit, and my kids started excitedly telling her Christmas is coming soon. She freaked out, saying Christmas is a "Satanic holiday" and telling them that Santa is going to hell along with everyone who celebrates it. My children are now traumatized. FML
Today, my parents told me they're getting a divorce. However, they asked me not to tell any of the family so that the news doesn't spoil Christmas. Thanks, Mom and Dad. FML
Today, my mother has issued a 'Christmas Ultimatum'. The rest of us have exactly 2 days to "get some Christmas around here" or we will feel her wrath. FML
At last
Today, on the third of February, my mom finally relented and let us take the Christmas decorations down. FML
Today, I had to slowly explain to my mother that Americans are not the only people who celebrate Christmas. FML
Today, I told my parents I really missed them and wanted to come home for the weekend, as I haven't seen them in months. They told me that was a bad idea and they couldn't fit me into their schedule. I asked what their plans were. They said they didn't have any yet. FML
Today, my extended family came over for Christmas. I forgot to get a present for my extremely sensitive aunt. I took a gift from my re-gift pile and wrapped it quickly. Little did I remember that it was the same gift she gave me last year. She noticed. FML

Maybe that's what they want you to think ..

It seems unlikely they'd miss all the music, decorative displays, greeting cards...Isn't it possible they're just messing with you? In any case, even if celebrating Christmas isn't an obligation, you were probably really looking forwards to it. Since there's still 3 days, hopefully you'll all have the time to prepare a nice meal and have some fun together as a family, even if there aren't any gifts prepared. Disappointed hopes suck, but give it a bit of time and it'll become one of those funny memories.

Uh...you sound gullible.

Be grateful that they have enough money to afford it in the first place

To afford what? To afford forgetting Christmas?

Exactly, Lalala. #2 is from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, a movie in which you can pay to have memories removed. Occasionally, FML's DNS redirects to the multiverse, and we get comments from fictional characters.

With all the christmas music being played in stores, you'd think they would know.

Christmas music has been playing since Halloween ended so I don't see your point...

where I live there are no decorations and no Xmas music being played in stores. it is very easy to forget about it and I almost did too. this year nobody seems to be in the Christmas spirit

Most places start playing Christmas music right after Thanksgiving, some even before. So music isn't exactly a strong indicator of Christmas

#14, you are very lucky not to be bombarded with Christmas retail hell!

It really doesn't feel like Christmas, you know, since we're getting the Grinch for president soon.

Played by Jim Carrey?

Nah, I'm old school. The one voiced by Boris Karloff.

maybe they do have gifts and a tree & all the decorations etc and just forgot how soon christmas was sneaking up. they could've remembered christmas was soon in like a week and just lost track of the days.

Well they did have 50+ of those already OP ^.^ I guess it's normal if they forget a few

I don't know how old you are, OP, but I think it's more like your parents "forgot" about Christmas.

I'm the same. I'm now rising around buying everyone stuff. I thought it was next week ?

Maybe they're only acting like they forgot so you'll be surprised when Santa brings you presents. lol
