Today, my extended family came over for Christmas. I forgot to get a present for my extremely sensitive aunt. I took a gift from my re-gift pile and wrapped it quickly. Little did I remember that it was the same gift she gave me last year. She noticed. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Old dog, new tricks
Today, for my mom's birthday, I couldn't figure out what to get her, so I just took some of her jewelry, wrapped it up, and re-gifted it. She recognized it instantly. FML
Pass the parcel
Today, I went to my son's friend's birthday party and felt really proud of giving a great gift. It just so happened that I regifted the same gift that his friend's mother gave to my son the month before, because I forgot to check the name on the bag. It looked like she was about to faint. FML
One-sided
Today, after I spent quite some time getting thoughtful gifts for my friend and her kids ahead of their visit, she made a big fuss about how she'd "forgotten" to bring the gift she'd bought for me. Later, she casually admitted that she'd intentionally not bought me anything because she, "didn't think I'd need it." FML
Today, I received a birthday present from a friend. It was the very same gift I gave to her for Christmas. FML
Today, as I was waiting in line to give my mom her birthday present, my dad gave her the exact same gift I'd also bought for her. FML
Merry Mystery Christmas!
Today, I wrapped all my Christmas gifts at midnight. In my exhaustion, I forgot to label them. On Christmas morning, everyone will open presents while I try to remember who was supposed to get socks versus who was supposed to get a coffee maker. FML
Today, I was wrapping Christmas presents for various people; 17 to be exact. It wasn't until I placed the last present on top of the stack that I realized I didn't put gift tags on any of them. FML
Today, I thought my mom and I could put aside our differences and open our Christmas presents. When she opened mine, she turned to my dad and said she didn't want the present, so I could give it to someone else. 'Tis the season. FML
Today, my boyfriend decided to give me my Christmas present early because he's going to his grandparents' house for Christmas and won't see me. I was excited, until I unwrapped a sweater that I left there a month ago. FML
Today, I won a raffle organised by a friend. I discovered one of the "prizes" was actually a present that I had given to her, that she had "loved". When I asked her where she had gotten it, she said, "Oh, just some crap someone gave me once." She didn't even remember that I had given it to her. FML

You should have played it off like you liked her gift so much last year, you decided to get her one too for this year

Should have gotten her some Sensodyne toothpaste. Heard it really helps with sensitivity.

At least you tried? It's the thought that counts.

#1 there was absolutely no thought put into it by OP

Not getting something for a sensitive person was one mistake, but unknowingly giving them a gift that they gave you before sends off a worse message. With sensitive people especially, they perceive almost anything negatively.

The only thought OP had in mind was not getting bitched out by her aunt and it didn't work. YDI.

Your second sentence contradicted the message of your first one.

That's why you keep little tabs for a reminder.

From my perspective I need a giant billboard with everyone's names just to remember. Holidays and stuff tend to sneak up on me.

I can't regift stuff. I'm a metal head so none of my extended family really knows what to get me so they all get me iTunes money...which I promptly use...

I was thinlingbg the same, but if its a gender specific gift or something like that, it wouldn't work :s

Jock strap. That works, right?

22 - Are you kidding? What a ridiculous question. Of course it works.

Thinlingbg: you're doing it wrong.

If you're gonna regift make sure you have a good memory. YDI.

Now she knows not to buy crap gifts.

How do you know it was a crap gift? Maybe OP just didn't like it...

If Timmy's dad says it was crap, then it was crap!

Maybe you should write names on the gifts in that pile to prevent this.

You both deserved it. If it was such a good gift she gave you last year, it wouldn't be just lying around for you to regift it.

Because the aunt totally knew OP wouldn't like it.

Who said it was a good gift? Apparently, OP didn't like it, so it probably wasn't that good of a gift

There are kids who think the iPhone 4 is a bad gift ever since the iPhone 5 came out. It's all a matter to perspective.

A lot of teens have been brainwashed with the whole, newer is better mentality. They would rather have a crappy, brand name coat to use to shovel in instead of a 1 year old handmedown that is really warm because they would be ashamed to be in anything that isn't cool or fashionable because of what they see on tv or hear from friends. There are a lot unlike this too, but the ones who are, make me face palm. It's pathetic that a new phone is not good enough on its own anymore.

Hopefully it wasn't anything sharp or potentially dangerous

Oh to be a fly on the wall when the rebuke takes place!
