Today, I made a typo in a line of code, bringing the company website down. Our admin was already pissed about having to work over Christmas, and he started yelling at me and ended up punching my supervisor when he got between us. Pretty sure my screw up indirectly got the poor guy fired. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Unionize!
Today, at work, my computer started acting up. I told my boss I could fix it, but he told me to call the IT department instead. Neither the IT technician or his supervisor could figure it out, so I showed them what was wrong and how to fix it. I was promptly fired for wasting 2 hours of company time. FML
Today, my boss fired me because I corrected him after he misspoke during a meeting. FML
The buck stops here
Today, my boss threw me out of her office during a conference call for daring to correct her. The client fired the company because she subsequently got all the information on the call wrong, and plainly had no idea what was going on. From all the screaming, this is now all my fault. FML
Broadcast
Today, I had to call a coworker to the office via the store intercom. The damn thing didn't turn off properly and everyone heard me say, "I hate that asshole. Just be where your dumb ass should be." I realized my mistake a few seconds before my manager stormed in and threatened to fire me. FML
Are you doing OK?
Today, I got a heads-up that my boss suffered a death in the family, but was coming into work anyway. I thought he'd be depressed, but it seems he deals with grief with anger instead. I found that out when he yelled at me, threatening to rip my spine out my ass over a typo I made in a report. FML
Today, my lazy bastard of a co-worker punched me straight in the jaw because he didn't get the promotion I did. Being his new manager, I fired him. A few hours later, I was fired for "abusing" my power. FML
Today, my boss reprimanded me for a huge screw-up that he was responsible for. FML
Today, I was happy because my co-worker was almost about to get fired due to his lazy habits. It was all going so well. Then I accidentally put my biggest sale yet under his name. FML
Today, at work, I stepped out for a few minutes to use the bathroom. Shortly after returning, I found out the hard way that one of my coworkers had used my computer to send a profanity-filled email to our boss, calling him an asshole and telling him to go fuck himself. I'm now jobless. FML
Today, my boss sent me a text message saying, "You're fired. Merry Christmas!" FML

It's not your fault that he reacted so strongly and punched a guy.

I really don't see that as your fault that the guy over reacted and punched a superior

Agreed, some people just don't have much control over their emotions.

#1 I kinda understand the guy. You really get fed up fixing mistakes that wouldn't be there if people were more careful and/or at least knew one tiny bit what they were doing.

I think I can imagine the guy accidentally punching someone just by raising his hands in the air saying "what the hell" to OP, and consequently hitting the supervisor when his hands go up, but if he really did just straight up assault his superior then I've got not a shred of sympathy for him.

#41 being that he was only admin I doubt he would have had to fix the mistake, more likely he was just pissed that the website was down. They were all working Christmas day, he was no worse off than anyone else and punching anyone over a mistake means he deserves to be fired.

41 no. if you don't like your job and it causes you to hate it so much that you get physically violent then you need a new job. if his job is to fix mistakes and he can't handle that it seems he needs a new line of employment.

OP,do you work at steam by any chance?

If you have ever done code, which is like fireworks in handling, I'm more surprised OP wasn't pissed about the fact that he would have to read the entire thing (or god forbid rewrite the entire damn thing). Though, add in one of the few days where people should be chilling with their families, I can relate a little bit with the attacker and OP...

Nope. Not your fault at all. There are many ways he could have handled the situation that wouldn't have ended up in assault.

Unless you somehow controlled the person and made him get violent, this is not your fault at all. Mistakes happen, if you get violent over it then you need help.

You were both working over Christmas that doesn't excuse his actions. To err is human don't blame that incident on yourself. Everyone has typos; especially with auto correct on iPhones.

I doubt he was coding on an iPhone though, lol.

Poor guy? Don't feel bad for him. You made an honest mistake and he over-reacted. He deserved to get fired.

Nah that's not your fault. You didn't make him work over christmas and you didn't force him to punch your supervisor. Plus everybody makes mistakes

Poor guy nothing. We all have to do stuff we hate sometimes and mistakes happen. Sounds like a hot head who didn't deserve to work there.

Congrats on the promotion?

Why would getting an admin fired mean a promotion for a developer?
