Today, I'm still not living in the house I fought so hard to buy three months ago. As I was fixing a hole in the wall, I found black mold covering the back side of my drywall. On every wall. I can't afford to fix it. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Slumlords
Today, I found out that my house has termites and my family, from whom I'm renting the place, says I might have to move. I don't have the funds for that right now. FML
The blob
Today, after several days of deep-cleaning my house, I found a huge section of my room covered in black mold. I almost puked when I saw it. Not only could that have put anyone in the hospital, but it also explains why I've been getting sick all the time as of late. FML
Today, after months of telling my landlord about the weak floorboards in my living room, I fell through them as I was trying to repair them myself. FML
Lemon or haunted?
Today, our boiler broke. Yesterday, it was our fridge. The day before that, the deck collapsed, and a few weeks ago the dishwasher flooded the kitchen. This is after we spent a ton of money to have the house gutted due to a mold problem. We only bought the house a year ago, and have lived in it even less. We need to move. FML
Leaked
Today, I found out that my toilet leaked into the apartment's ceiling downstairs and it's going to cost over $2000 to fix the ceiling and the clear all of the mould out. I have two different types of insurance and neither of them are likely to cover it. FML
Won't someone think of the landlords?
Today, it's been months since I inherited a nice house, only to discover it overrun with squatters. I had to legally evict them, costing thousands. When they were ordered to vacate, they set the house on fire. Now I have a blackened ruin and depleted savings. FML
Today, after spending two weeks renovating my room and $1000 on paint and a new floor, my landlord told me that he's sold the house. Also, he was kind enough to inform me that unless I paint the walls back to white, I won't be getting my $500 deposit back. FML
Today, I came home to my family remodeling our (extremely) out of date bathroom. I was SUPER excited to help them get it done. I walked down the hallway and opened my bedroom door to find a huge, gaping hole in my wall and my room covered in dust. I had to sweep every surface in my room. FML
Today, my mom finally believed me when I said I smelled mold. I lifted up the couch, and it was covered in mold. So were the bottoms of all our furniture, our beds, and my grandma's vintage chair. We've been living in mold for the past 4 months. FML
Today, I started packing up the flat I have been renting. As I took a picture off the wall I also ripped half the wallpaper. That's my deposit gone. FML

Sorry to hear your house burned down. Hope you can get a nice replacement with the insurance money. Oh, it hasn't happened yet? Shhhhhhh!

Did you not have it inspected before you bought it? If not, you deserve it.

Buy a hazardous material suit from Home Depot, and a mask(These are not expensive). Then all you need to do is put plastic around the contaminated area to keep the mold secured. Then knock down the drywall and place it in plastic and dispose of it per your cities regulations. You don't need drywall to live in the house. Fix it as time goes by and you can afford to.

You can sue the home inspector. In our state, you have one year from the date of purchase to sue them and then the statue of limitations kicks in. Home inspectors carry insurance specifically for these situations.

Sue for not informing you about that.

I know everyone commenting on the internet hates science, but here goes anyway. There has bever been any scientific evidence that this mold is harmful to you. Some lawyers convinced a jury in a case one time, and now everyone has to deal with it legally. But again, no actual scientific evidence was needed, just a simple coorelation between some kids getting sick and there happening to be black mold in a house. The more is was studied, the less it looked like mold was the cause of the suckness, and no real evidence has ever been found despite a massive amount of time and energy spent trying to produce such evidence. If I were you, I would go ahead and move in.

Perhaps you could rent it then !

Same as renting a haunted house, I would have no problem -I am not supersticious. Same reason I dont burn insence and chant to cure cancer.

There's a Forensic Files episode on black mold and how it slowly deteriorated a whole families brains while they were living in a black mold infested house. Watch it if you want some proof that black mold is harmfull.

They had a virus is the logical medical explination, not mold. I'm sure the producers thought an unidentified virus was a little less sexy than black mold.

That's why you get it inspected, you cheap bitch.

Just because mold is black doesn't mean it's the dreaded "black mold", aspergillus. You can get a test kit at any big box home store and find out. If it's no big deal, find the source of water that's allowing it to thrive and address it. Problem solved. If it's aspergillus.. same drill but add "sue the seller", and try to not die or anything.

bleach fights off mold, also you have to let it dry out somehow

Shouldn't there be documents in place for this time of thing before purchasing? That sucks. I am sorry!

Real estate agent here. Number one: how did that pass inspection? Because black mold has an obvious smell! And number two, I'd start talking to a lawyer about this.
