Today, I'm recovering from a brain injury that occurred a few months ago. The newest challenge I'm facing is thinking the floor is moving any time there is a change in colour or texture. My house has patterned tile floors and carpet. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Thanks guys
Today, I was walking into my living room when I slipped over the carpet, bashed my head on my glass table, and was moaning in pain on the floor. My parents came running when they heard my head bang… straight to the table, to see if there were any scratches on it. FML

Today, I’m finally getting over a bad accident I had, and I'm allowed to start walking again. Alas, I’ve been flat on my back in a hospital bed for so many months, I’m having to get used to standing upright again. I get so dizzy from standing, I keep falling and hurting myself. FML
Today, I moved into a new downstairs flat. I promptly fell down said stairs. I have a broken pelvis now and can't walk or go down steps for 3 months. FML
Today, after months of telling my landlord about the weak floorboards in my living room, I fell through them as I was trying to repair them myself. FML
Fall from grace
Today, I realized that over the past few months, I seem to be getting more and more prone to bumping into things, and tripping over nothing. I'm also apparently more prone to getting injured when this happens. I've always been uncoordinated, but this is getting out of hand. I'm falling apart. FML
Best foot forward
Today, after a month of things going wrong in my life and finally getting better, I woke up refreshed and ready to face the day. Then, I fell down the stairs. FML
Caught it
Today, after months of arguing with doctors and them trying to hand me off to mental health professionals, it turns out I indeed have a physical brain injury they missed. Scary, right? FML
Today, I found out what it's like to get brain-freeze while recovering from a head injury. FML
Well balanced
Today, after years of martial arts training, ballet, and dance, I thought I had pretty good balance for a dude. Then I accidentally stuck both legs in one side of my pants and tipped head first into the wall. The ER doctor has scheduled a test for TBI, and the vertigo “may be permanent.” FML
Today, I tripped over a "wet floor" sign at work and hit the floor hard. The floor wasn't even wet. FML

Alternatively, depending on how large OP's house is and how long they expect this symptom to last, they could pick up some cheap, solid-color area rugs (or even throw blankets) to cover up the carpet and tile.

A cheap solution in the mean time could be large sheets of paper like those huge rolls of brown paper you can get.

An even cheaper solution is taping their eyes shut.

With all due respect I suggested one of those rolls of paper as you would usually be looking at around $10-$20 for a roll big enough to cover the floors of a small to medium sized house. I can't imagine that op has much money to spare based on what I've heard about medical bills in the states and rugs can quite quickly add up to probably more than or around the same cost as recarpeting the place would with the number they would likely need and as it is only needed temporarily I doubt most people would want to be spending that much on carpet rugs of blankets.

yea... medical bills here are outrageous. and ambulance ride to the er with no emergency treatment enroute can cost you $500... i know that from personal experience

Oh god, I can feel the nausea already. Hope you don't have motion sickness. Best of luck healing from your injury and symptoms.

This type of thing/vertigo is one of my biggest fears. I get motion sickness so easily. I've also had those kinds of headaches where everything is dizzy and makes you so nauseas and I just can't imagine living for a long period of time like that! I hope you get better soon op and I hope you're taking a good anti-emetic!

Could you maybe try some tinted glasses? That way the change in colors you see wouldn't be so drastic, hopefully. I hope you get better soon. I'm glad you survived the injury to take this woozy journey. It'll get better.

I am very sensitive to sharp, bright lights and flashing lights - they can give me migraine headaches. I can verify that sunglasses (i.e. darkly tinted glasses) can help me deal with the lights when I can't avoid them. It's not 100% perfect, but it helps. I know they aren't identical situations, but they're both visual input interacting with neurological conditions, so maybe they're similar enough that it'll help the OP too?

Well people pay money for drugs for trippy things like that to happen. You naturally have that so your mind is basically free drugs.

This wouldn't be an FML if it was a pleasurable experience for him.

At least you won't need drugs for an acid trip.

Some people pay to experience such things. . Drugs are bad people

Drugs are awesome! They treat illness, save lives, and help millions of people. Also, drugs aren't people.
