Today, I'm in the process of adopting a child. When I called my mom to tell her the news, she just said, "Oh honey, don't adopt, it's the worst decision you'll ever make." I'm adopted. FML

Today, my mom was screaming at me and said, "I wish I'd never adopted you." I guess I'm adopted then. FML

Today, I overheard my parents arguing over who had to tell me that I'm adopted. FML
Today, my son broke up with his girlfriend. When I asked why, he said, "Because I found out she's adopted. Ugh. I just can't with that, y'know?" Never before have I ever felt the desire to disown one of my kids. It's not a pleasant feeling. FML
Today, I decided to come clean with my daughter about her adoptive status within my family. Just after I told her she was adopted, I realized that I have been telling her stories about me giving birth to her. FML
Today, my husband and I told my parents that I finally managed to conceive. My mom burst into tears of joy and said how great it was that she's finally going to be a "real" grandma, all within earshot of our adopted and now-devastated daughter. FML
Today, my mom dropped me off at a friend's house. Upon leaving, my friend's mom said how much I looked like my mother. My mother then replied, "That's funny, she was adopted." This was the first I'd heard of this. FML
Today, I decided it was time to tell my daughter that she had been adopted. Not only had she known for 5 years, she found out from my drunk sister. FML
Today, I called my ex and told him I was pregnant with his child. He was thrilled, going on and on about how much he wanted to be a dad. I had to tell him I was going to abort it. FML
Today, my mother, who is 75 years-old, just told me and my sister that we were adopted. I'm 45 years-old and my sister is 49. FML

Just because she thought of it doesn't automatically make it the right choice, I've thought of many ideas that were certainly not the right choice. Such as punching a really annoying individual in the face, thought of it but definitely knew it wasn't the right choice...

50 is completely right... I'm not saying adopting is the wrong choice, but your argument for why it's definitely right is pretty ass, 47. I for one would prefer people think through their choices of adopting children instead of adopting every time they think of doing so since it "must" be the right decision if it occurred to them.

I don't know about the rest of the world but in the UK you don't just decide to adopt and go down to the baby pound to pick a cute one. Once you've decided it's what you really want to do there's interviews, screenings, home visits etc before you're even placed on the list.

I'd be so shocked.. I think parents should find a way to tell them when they're young.. Cuz once they are old.. Shit like this happen and it's really hard when your whole root changes in your 30s or 40s
