Today, I knocked over a display case at a mall, shattering hundreds of dollars in goods. Embarrassed, I tried to scurry out of the nearest door without being seen. I scuttled right into the janitor's closet, the door automatically locking behind me. I waited for an hour to be let out. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, while trying on an outfit in the dressing room at the mall, I got locked in. I decided to take 5 minutes to try and get out by crawling under the door. After I got out, I realized I left my cell phone, my purse and my pants inside. FML
Today, I was in a store using the only bathroom there. After I was done, I realized I couldn't open the door. Panicked it locked me in, I banged on the door, and screamed for help. The security and a whole group of people gathered, only to find that I was pulling the door instead of pushing it. FML
Are you OK?
Today, I walked into a glass door at a busy mall. Not only did I face-plant in front of a crowd, but I also left an almost perfect imprint of my face on the glass. FML
Today, I was accused of shop-lifting by an old lady in a supermarket. Having proven myself innocent, I tried to storm off to show my displeasure at the situation. In my haste to make a dramatic exit, I tried to go out of the entrance and walked straight into the automatic door. FML
Doormat hazard
Today, I was walking into my office building when I tripped over a doormat and fell flat on my face right in front of the security guard. As I tried to stand up, I kicked the door, slamming shut with a dramatic bang. I looked up to see that the entire building lobby was watching. FML
Today, at work, I tripped and fell face-first into a food display. As I picked myself up, totally humiliated, I tripped again and fell right back into it, earning a bunch of pitying looks from nearby customers. FML
Today, I was taking a placement test for the new college I am going to. After the test and picking up a few numbers, I left with great pride. I opened the door and started walking out. I then realized that I had walked into the closet. FML
Bathroom Ninja
Today, I tried to quietly leave a public toilet at work without anyone noticing how long I'd been in there. The automatic hand dryer turned on as I walked past, making me jump so hard, I walked straight into the door. FML
Classic mistake
Today, I realized I'd lost my wallet when paying for groceries. I had to put all the items back and leave the store feeling so embarrassed in front of everyone. FML
Not a people person
Today, I walked into a public toilet and I opened a stall door, only to discover someone who had forgotten to lock the door sitting on the can. Instead of saying "Sorry," I panicked and said, "Nice shoes!" I then had to wait until they left because I was too embarrassed to face them. FML

Well now you can get a broom to sweep up the mess you made, OP.

At the mall. Do you know how to read?

To be fair to him though, he could have been skim reading. Though one would expect you would read it fully before commenting...

Asshole.

Welp, everything happens for a reason. You ended up in the janitor's closet to clean up the mess you made.

if they try to make you pay for the damages, you just tell them you'll sue for locking you up in a broom closet. I don't really want you to sue but that is definitely grounds, so I think they'll let you go.

40 - Looks like you can't read either. She locked herself in the closet and I don't think she would want to sue herself.

Yes but a door by law (most countries) cannot be capable of locking a person in with no means of escape, particularly in an emergency. This door was clearly not to code, and would indeed be grounds for a lawsuit. OP could have suffered a trauma from being sealed in a confined space. OP may now or may already have been claustrophobic. Either way, the mall put undue stress on them by creating a potentially dangerous and traumatic situation. Yes OP could sue, and the mall would likely settle before it reached court, and would properly fix that door.

Unless you were legitimately trying to cause damage, it shouldn't have fallen over to easily, so I see it as their fault. If they are going to store hundreds of dollars worth of goods on something unstable (you could say), I don't see how you could get stuck with the responsibility of paying for it. People are clumsy, and businesses have insurance for accidents. (;

It totally changed how I envisioned this happening. First he's walking, then he turns into a crab and walks into a closet.

That just sounds like a really crappy way to start a morning. I can only think what the janitor was thinking when he opened the door to find you in there. Best of luck!

You can't run away from your problems, but then again, after you ran away from your first problem, you ran straight into another problem.

Can't you read? He didn't run away from his problems, he scuttled.

So why couldn't you be a decent person and help the poor employee who had to clean it up? I guess people just aren't willing to take any kind of responsibility for their actions anymore.
Pikawhore 21
A thousand times this. If you break "hundreds of dollars in goods," a decent person admits his or her guilt. You basically stole that much in profit from the store.

You're supposed to pay for it where I'm from

I would've run away from embarrassment. Not saying it's right, and I'd be ashamed of myself, but at the moment my embarrassment would override everything else.

Yeah, that's what you get for trying to avoid owning up to your mistakes. Idiot. Ydi.
