Today, I had to carry a 25kg bag of cement to an elderly customer's car because she refused to use a cart. "You're paid to work, so I'm gonna make you work." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Nope, not even once
Today, at a customer's house, I was asked to carry her delivery of six pieces of heavy furniture up to her office. Normally, not a problem, but this insane woman had Witches' Stairs (Google them), which were was an accident begging to happen. She told my boss I was unhelpful, uncooperative, and rude. FML
Knackered
Today, when I got home from work exhausted and literally ready to fall over, my mom had me carry several heavy bags of dog food for her. Yesterday, it was coals; before that it was horse feed and gas bottles. Before that, I'd just asked her to keep the hard, physical work to the weekends. FML
I hate this job
Today, at work, a customer threatened to punch me in the face because the store I work at doesn't have shopping baskets, only carts. FML
Today, while buying paint, I began to help an elderly woman working to lift some heavy boxes. She told me what a nice young lady I was. Then her boss came over, screamed at her for being lazy and fired her. She cried. So did I. FML
Today, my manager cussed me out for being unable to keep a customer happy. That "customer" was a senile old twit who had wandered away from his carer, thought our shop was his living room, and demanded to know who replaced all his furniture. FML
Today, I was helping my wife bring in the groceries. She was able to carry 4 bags and a jug of milk. I was struggling with 2 bags. FML
Strung out
Today, I was at work as a cashier. An old lady unbagged everything I had, and angrily "taught" me how to bag. She put potatoes on her eggs and broke them. She then screamed that I was useless and retarded in front of all my other customers and manager. FML
Helper Blues
Today, I asked an elderly customer at my work if she needed help with her groceries. She responded, "I normally would, but I'm afraid you'll eat all the groceries." FML
Ride the bike, dude
Today, a customer bought a bike. He paid for it and asked us to escort both him and the bike to a bus stop, about a 20-minute walk away. He had no car and said he couldn't bring the bike to the stop because it was "too heavy." When we said we're not allowed to abandon post, he cussed us out and called our manager. FML
Today, I was at work, stocking shelves. A customer got mad because I was in the way of her "shopping time" and knocked down all the work I had done. FML

Carts are meant to convey goods from one point to other. OP could have used that time and effort elsewhere. That was unfair.

Ahhhhh ... YEAH she's fkn wrong! Do you honestly think it's ok to treat another human being like that? It is his job to help customers bring items to their cars but it s absolutely NOT his job to take her shit!

25kg of cement?! Dude, you rock
Calingaladha 21
25 kg isn't that heavy, though...
ThatHorse 15
For americans it is. most of our job postings say shit like "must be able to lift 25 pounds" (roughly 12kg)
blazie999 15
Over here (still in America) they all say at least 50 pounds.
AlchemistEd 12
25kg is heavy at all. a week or two at the gym and youd be lifting that over your head: one handed. if not more.

All while working retail, too? That's impressive.

Doing it voluntarily is slightly different from being made to do it out of spite by a customer. I think the fml wasn't about carrying it per se but about the customers attitude to op

There's a difference between voluntary service and involuntary service.

Did you ride home with her to carry it out of the car, as well?

Technically if you work at Bunnings, Mitre 10 or Home Hardware etc. it is part of your job description but having said that she could have been more polite. I'm happy to help pleasant customers with heavy things even though I don't have to at my job but if they're rude I don't offer. A little bit of kindness goes a long way, hopefully your next customer is a little bit more cheery. Chin up OP :)

At least it's a job mate. I'll take a job even if it was cleaning toilets all day.

You don't get the point.

In fairness, she probably would have had issues moving it from cart to car. She could've been polite, though.
