Today, I got my annual blood test. The nurse was inexperienced and it took her several tries to insert the needle properly. When I get back home, my fiancé starts yelling at me and storms out. The reason? I am a recovering drug addict and my arm appeared as if I had been shooting up. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I decided to give blood for the second time. I felt excrutiating pain when she stuck the needle in my arm. Another nurse came running over in a panic. Apparently my inexperienced nurse had put it in my tendon instead of my vein. FML
Today, I went for bloodwork. It's routine for me, so I was ready for the nurse to put in the needle and take my blood. It went in fine, but right after, she slowly pulled the needle out, then wondered why the blood stopped. She then moved it back and forth in my arm while I panicked silently. FML
Today, I had to go to the hospital to get blood taken. The nurse mentioned how pronounced and easy to see my veins are. I guess that explains why she missed five times in a row. I'm surprised my arm doesn't look like a heroin addict's right now. FML
Today, I went to get my blood drawn to see how far along I am pregnant. The lady stuck both my arms twice and then busted a vein in my right arm. She told me to come back tomorrow to try again. FML
Today, I had to get bloodwork done. I'm deathly afraid of needles. The whole lobby heard me scream as soon as the nurse said 'hello'. FML
Today, my needle-phobic mother took me to get a shot. She fainted. FML
Today, I went to the blood bank to donate plasma. All went well until the machine went to return my red blood cells. It turns out the nurse sliced my vein and the blood built up in my tissues. I now have a massive swollen arm and bruising, and look like a junkie. FML
Today, I went to the doctor to get a blood test and I started crying when I saw the needle. I planned on becoming a doctor. FML
Today, I went to a blood drive. The nurse taking my blood mentioned that she'd been called in on her day off, and she swore she wasn't drunk. I didn't know what to do, so I just smiled and blinked back tears as she savaged the vein in my arm. FML
Today, I had to give a 63 year old man a shot. He started bawling before I even brought out the needle. I tried to get him calm down. Then he grabbed the needle, threw it at me and ran out the door. FML

Well heroin will make it impossible to find a good vein so... inexperienced nurse? or ex druggie with no viable veins? veins it is.

She didn't say she used to be on heroin.

Why didn't you tell your wife before you went to get a blood test?

At least here if a nurse needs to draw blood or something that requires a vein and a needle they have I think 2 or 3 tries to get it done then if they can't they have to pass that duty off to a more experienced nurse. I have deep veins and people have a hard time finding them sometimes so I have one spot I favor when they draw blood (I donate a lot) and that is the easiest place for them to draw blood so I don't get stabbed a million times. Also next time request an experienced nurse because you already know you have problems with your veins

the nurse was probably someone off Shortland St :P

u should hav asked the nurse 2 get a more experienced nurse 2 help or even a real doctor. i say YDI b/c why in the heck would u sit there and let her repeatedly poke u with a needle?! Granted, ur obviously not afraid of needles but still - especially since u knew what it would look like. Think next time.

Doctors have no idea how to draw blood, and many nurses are not well trained either. Phlebotomists are specifically trained to draw blood. If you're going to request anyone to draw blood, request them.

Oh OH! "Kind speech is not always kind." Someone who attempts to give you something they call TOUGH LOVE? You mean someone actually CARES about you and wants the best for you? DON'T BE A ******* WHINNY BITCH AND POST IT ON FML TO GET ATTENTION! SPEND YOUR TIME ACTUALLY TRYING TO HOLD ON TO THAT MAN WHO SO CLEARLY LOVES YOU AND WANTS THE BEST FOR YOU. I mean what? Would you rather him notice it and say "shooting up eh? Fine I give up" REALLY? No, probably not. Think about all the possibilities before you do something so ******* STUPID (aka posting it on the World Wide Web for thousands to see) He did EXACTLY what someone who actually LOVES you would do.

Yes, because being an asshole to the OP before hearing the story is exactly what someone who loves them would and should do. Forget trusting them at all, or having any confidence in them - just bitch at them if even one things appears amiss.

You, sir or maddam, are a douche. (#67)

#67, I made an account purely for the purpose of telling you that you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! I dunno what #68 and #70 are talking about, he showed that he CARES for OP's well-being and wants to leave NO DOUBT as to where he stands on her drug addiction issue. He should've probably let her get a word in but really, "I was jabbed by the nurse, honest!" is a bit too boy who cried wolf to be believed right away. Stop bitching OP and be grateful you have positive influences in your life that have nothing but your best interest in mind.

Like the OP is looking to the comments on his/her FML for advice as to how to deal with her addiction..... Seems rational to me. /sarcasm.
