Today, I got a ticket for driving without insurance. I gave the cop my insurance information, but he said it was invalid because it didn't show an expiration date. When I pointed out the information he was looking for, he ignored me and gave me a ticket anyway. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got a speeding ticket. I couldn't find my insurance card, and the cop was very nice. He said not to worry about it, that I "looked like someone who had insurance." I'm not sure how to take that. FML
Today, I got pulled over for having an expired registration. I also found out my husband hasn't been paying for my car insurance. Luckily, I didn't get arrested because I had my baby with me. They towed my car and gave me 2 tickets and a court date. Oh, and the cop sent me a friend request. FML
Today, I was driving home from work when I saw a cop come up behind me. Nervous about my expired license, I kept checking in my rear view mirror. In turn since I wasn't paying attention, I ran a stop sign. Needless to say the cop pulled me over and gave me 2 tickets. FML
Classic
Today, I got pulled over for going a few miles per hour over the speed limit. The cop asked for my license and registration. I happened to look down at my wallet while he was processing everything and saw my license in my wallet. I gave the cop my fake I.D. FML
Fake plates
Today, I received a traffic ticket by mail, presumably for speeding. Not a big deal, if my car hadn't been totalled three months ago. My driver's license is expired, too. FML
Today, I got pulled over for violating hands-free law and not having an updated address on my driver's license. Two days ago, I got pulled over for the same reasons. Now, I have four tickets I need to deal with. FML
Today, I received a ticket for not having my headlights on. The cop who pulled me over had a broken headlight. FML
Am I being detained?
Today, a police car hit my parked vehicle, likely due to icy road conditions. When the officer came over to talk to me, I assumed it was to give me his insurance information. Nope. It was to give me a ticket for "impeding a police officer." My car was in my driveway. FML
Today, I was looking for a parking spot and finally found one. Trying to figure out if the spot was legal, I asked a cop that had pulled up. He said it was fine. I came back 3 hours later to a parking ticket. FML
Today, I was pulled over for speeding. When the police officer approached me and asked for license and registration, I accidentally gave him my fake I.D. FML

Where I'm from, OP could easily go to that officer's command, show his valid insurance info, and have the summons voided right there without having to go to court for it.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted- you're right. I would bet the cop wouldn't even show up, aka instant win.

the court could easily end up more expensive than the ticket. and im pretty sure courts dont have an instant win condition.

#17, if the officer doesn't show up then it's dismissed. So yeah instant win.

I've heard about cops not showing up and the case getting dismissed instantly, even if the person was guilty.

Cops are just ppl. Brilliant to total dumbass. Like a box of chocolate you never know what you'll get. You did right by talking sense and figuring out you got Einstein and taking the ticket. Show the judge and you win. No show and pay a fine

At 27 flip the box over.

Absolutely fight it. Not sure what the policy is in OP's state, but normally a traffic hearing costs around $25. Bring proof of insurance and the magistrate will have no choice but to drop it since the officer cited you didn't have insurance.

In California, if you register to fight it, and you show but the officer doesn't, you win. You will need to pay the full amount of the ticket (bail) in advance, but will get it fully refunded when you "win." Even if the officer shows up, you have proof you DID have insurance on the date of the ticket being written. Your insurance company will happily fax/email you proof if you ask. Easy win, if still a pain-in-the-ass to deal with.

My comment was originally like the two pervious and one under me so I decided to waste your time by making you read my comment clarifying why it like so.

Still have to spend a bunch of time going and proving it.

Well if it's worth it you can always go to court to argue against the cop and the ticket. Also you can report the cop for the incident. But depending on where you live, court can be expensive.
MdMan3 17
There's always the option of bringing this to court. You should be able to get the ticket turned over.

Wow, I guess that cop couldnt stand being wrong. I would fight that if I were you, OP.
