Today, I got a ticket for doing 38mph in a 45mph zone. Apparently you can be cited for "impeding traffic" even when you're the only car on the road. FML

Today, a cop rear-ended me. Then I received a ticket from him for driving too far under the speed limit. We were in a school zone. FML
Today, I was pulled over and was given a $300 ticket for going 90mph on a 70mph highway. The cop swore he saw my silver car darting in and out of traffic. A couple of minutes earlier that exact car had passed me while I was following the speed limit. FML
Today, I got a ticket. The officer's daughter is my ex. He gave me a ticket for 31 in a 30 mph zone. FML
Today, being the new driver I am, I was trying to keep my speed at posted because I know that cops will target me. I ended up getting pulled over for my too-low speed and given a ticket because I was holding up a line of cars. FML
Today, I got a ticket for driving on the wrong side of the road. It was a one-way street. FML
Today, I got a ticket for speeding in a school zone. The school hasn't even been built yet. FML
Today, I found a parking ticket on my car. Out of five cars who were in violation of the same infraction, I was the only one who received a ticket. FML
Today, I was pulled over by a motorcycle cop for speeding in a 25 MPH zone. As the cop was walking towards my car, I flicked my cigarette butt out of my window. So, the cop did me the pleasure of writing me two tickets instead of one. FML
Today, at a red light, an old lady crossing the street fell right in front of my car. I got out of my car to help her. The light turned green and I was still helping the woman to her feet. An officer came by and ticketed me for "impeding the flow of traffic." FML
Today, while I was driving, a police officer jumped out from the sidewalk and into my lane. I slammed on the brakes so I wouldn't hit him. He then gave me a ticket for "obstructing traffic." FML

Its my opinion that even if there is no traffic, you still must drive as if there is traffic. No exceptions.

Some tickets are simply to get money. In college I was stuck at a broken light trying to turn left in a left turn only lane. I waited for 10 minutes with no traffic in any other lane waiting for it to turn green. Finally did, I went and was immediately pulled over for not using my turn signal. The clicking would have driven me nuts for those 10 minutes. Where the F did the cop think I was going? Such a hazard to the road I guess. Dumb and needless.

It's good practice. If you stop doing it when you don't necessarily need to, you will eventually stop doing it when you do need to. E.g. my dad had stopped using them properly for the same reason, but after teaching me to drive (who had to do it properly to not fail my exam), he's now picked up the habit again because of that. It's should be an instinct/reflex anyway, it literally takes a second. If anything I feel weird not hitting it, I even do it an empty parking lot and don't think twice about it.

I hate people who go under the speed limit. It's rude to everyone else behind them. That being said, if you were the only one on the road it's pretty ridiculous that you got a ticket for it.

I think there is more to this story. Did you just piss the officer off or was the impeding traffic something other than the speed?

You couldn’t have been the only car on the road if you got pulled over. Cop was there, too. Probably stuck behind your slow ass. Maybe you should check your mirrors more frequently and either speed up to the limit, or pull off the road to let others pass.
