Bled dry

Today, my ex-husband stopped paying his child support so when I phoned to threaten him with lawyers, he didn’t care. Apparently, he lost his job months ago and has been paying me out of his savings, but now he has absolutely nothing left I can take away from him. Now I feel bad. FML

And in all these months, he was unable to get another job? Don't feel bad. You didn't fire him or prevent him from getting another job. Also, are you sure that is true?

I sincerely hope your kids turn out to be a better person then you seem to be.

Sounds like your ex is a good man, taking care of his child(ren) without fail even after he's lost his own means of support. So why was your first impulse to threaten him rather than just ask why he was uncharacteristically late? You should feel bad. Better yet, decide how you've wronged other people in your life with your self-centered actions.

You did nothing wrong. He is legally obligated to contribute financially towards his children. He can get a fast food job or two, and what he owes can be recalculated in court.
