Today, I found out that the medication that's been free to me and has given me no noticeable side effects will be $1500 a month for my new insurance. This is a medication used to prevent my MS relapses. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Free healthcare for all
Today, I learned that my MS medication is going to cost 25k a month. My insurance won't cover a cent. I don't even make that much in a year. FML
The system is broke!
Today, I found out that when I go on Medicare in January, one of my medicines will go from $45 per month to $3000 for the first month, then $425 per month for the rest of the year. I need this medicine to stay alive. FML
Big farmer
Today, and for years, I have been on a medication for a neurological disease that put many restrictions on me. My doctor had finally told me that the medication was working very well and lifted some of my restrictions. I then found out that the drug is no longer sold in my country, and that there is no substitute. FML
Denied!
Today, I got rejected from participating in a depression study that provides free medication, for not already being on antidepressants. That's because I can't afford health insurance or medication, which is why I applied to the study. FML
I know an old lady…
Today, I was prescribed medication to treat the headaches, caused by the medication to treat the lethargy, caused by the medication to treat my crippling nerve pain, without which I'd be stuck in a wheelchair. FML
Medicare for all, now
Today, I was cut off from my government-funded drug program that used to pay half of my medication costs. They said I don't pay enough of a percentage of my wages on medication. I'd be on a higher dosage if I could afford it. I'm still poor and I'm definitely still bipolar. FML
Healthcare is ******
Today, my pharmacy was unable to fill my prescription for the only drug that works for an excruciating condition that I have. Only one company makes the drug and it's backordered for three months. I have one week left and then I’ll be forced into withdrawal. Without the drug, my life will be a living hell. FML
Late stage something something
Today, after spending at least two hours on the phone every day for the past week, my health insurer I pay a huge monthly premium to agreed to cover my life-sustaining insulin. But they won't contribute to the cost until after I've paid an unaffordable deductible first. I'm going to die even though I'm insured. FML
The scenic route
Today, after spending thousands of Euros flying back to my home country to pick up my expensive prescription medicine, I found out that I can buy it 200 meters from my current home, without prescription, and at a quarter of the price. FML
Healthcare for all, now
Today, I had a procedure that should have been covered by my health insurance, but while I was there, I asked the doc to sign a prescription for an unrelated thing. This apparently turned the insured procedure into a consultation, so they charged me full price for the procedure, over $15,000. FML

Get a medication authorization and get it covered. They'll probably cover it if you apply for it.

or talk to your doc about some free samples. a friend of mine who doesn't have insurance downloaded that, not for a major illness, but mostly antibiotics and stuff. some pharmacys also have a card program where you can go prescription cheaper

Thank Obama!

Why? it is his new insurance which is at fault. Nothing to do with Obama. Are you one of the "blame Obama" people?

It may not help, but try this app called GoodRx. It shows you all the places to get a certain medication cheaper. Where CVS may charge you like $50, Walgreens would charge you $7. Very good app. Worth a try.

Go to the manufacture's website (ie pfizer) or google your medicine + coupon and see if they have a copay assistance card/plan available. I needed active vitamin D pills to deal with seizures so severe I otherwise couldn't get out of a hospital unless I could be unhooked from my IV bag. At 10 dollars a pill x 4 pills a day I was making jokes that Viagra would be cheaper! I also missed jury duty because I was in the hospital having seizures.

If you're in the US - it sucks to be you. If you're anywhere else, there are programs that can help you get the meds you need at an affordable cost.

Wow that's shit. I don't know how US healthcare works but I hope you manage to get it sorted. As someone with MS and living in the UK I have just completed round 2 of Lemtrada on the NHS. I can't imagine the stress of going through all of that while having to work through insurance, getting things approved etc. Not sure what drug you were on but assuming you have RRMS could you look into Lemtrada? There is also a facebook support group that could help (I think) with regards to insurance. Best of luck getting things sorted and staying relapse free.

A friend of mine has meds that no longer work and she has MS, she uses medical marijuana, maybe you can try it?
