Today, I facebooked my friends about my upcoming birthday party, and told them to keep the date free. I got several responses telling me that's not possible, because that's the day the new Harry Potter movie comes out. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Party hard
Today, I sent out a note to 300 friends saying that I'm having a birthday party in a couple of weeks. I asked to please write back if they are interested in coming. Two people replied. They said they can't make it. FML
Today, my friends told me they will be unable to attend my birthday party on Friday because they'll be watching the Vampire Diaries finale. FML
Today, my friends told me that they couldn't make it to my birthday dinner unless I changed the time, because I'd made dinner reservations that would clash with the new episode of Jersey Shore. FML
Today, I posted an event to have a get together with friends. Most of them put "not attending". I hadn't even set the date. FML
Today, it's been weeks since I made a Facebook page to arrange something for my birthday as no one was able to attend last year on short notice. Everyone was game but now everyone is flaking. One friend even said, "I'll see who RSVPs and then decide." FML
Today, the last person I invited to my birthday party called and said they couldn't come because another party "came up" and they "hope I understand". It's on December 31st. This happens every year without fail. FML
Party time!
Today, I'm having my housewarming party and had prepared food, drink, and games for all the 19 confirmed guests on Facebook. I waited till 11, but nobody showed up. I checked Facebook again and realized I had accidentally put tomorrow as the party date. I have to work the whole day tomorrow. FML
It's the thought that counts
Today, my friends threw me a surprise birthday party. The problem? My birthday is tomorrow. I spent the entire evening pretending I was surprised and happy, all while knowing they got the date wrong. FML
Parasocial to the max
Today, I discovered my friend will be upstaging my birthday by hosting another birthday party shortly afterwards. Not for her of course, but in honor of her favorite actor. FML
Et tu, Chandler?
Today, I found out that when my friends say they're too busy to hang out with me, what they really mean is that they're going to have an awesome pool party, and don't want me to come. The Instagram stories say it all. FML

I would honestly have to agree. Opening night of Harry Potter matches no other.

lol. Harry Potter forever! Just make a party out of it1 Tell them that they'll all go to Harry Potter together, then go back to your place.

FYL. I like Harry Potter, but I wouldn't see it on the opening night unless I got a free ticket. The theaters are horrible when they're stuffed full of rabid fans, and you'd never get a good seat anyway. It'll be out in theaters for a good few months (and then you can see it in the cheap seats during the next year), in which time it's a lot more enjoyable to see than in the first few weeks. I didn't even know when the movie comes out. I agree with #159 - It's sad to see how many crazed Harry Potter fans there are on FML... By the way, if you like Harry Potter, go see the movie with them. If not, then I would suggest you start looking for new friends before they pull a stunt worse than this in the name of Twilight...

I'd rather go to the movie than some of my friend's birthday because they'd understand and go with me.

YDI for not understanding how incredibly awesome Harry Potter is.

there are people who have been counting down to the Harry Potter movie for a few years-unless you want zero attendance at your party, move it to a different weekend. Join your friends for the movie and have a good time!

Sounds like someone needs some new friends who don't happen to be complete geeks. Unless of course you're into Harry Potter as well in which case why not go watch it for your b-day?
