Today, I dug out the 5 fancy, extremely expensive candles I bought during Black Friday. I lit one up, and was delighted that it smelled so great. My mother then walked into my room and stated that it smelled "like shit". The other four were going to be a Christmas gift for her. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Thanks for the memories
Today, my mom lit a candle in our living room, telling the family how much she loved it. She then went on the tell us that my dad got it for her and it must have been some cheap candle. I bought the candle as a gift for her on her birthday. FML
Today, my mom sent me beautiful candlesticks along with some half burned candles. I thanked her. She told me the candlesticks were a wedding gift to my grandmother 85 years ago. Then she said the candles were used at my grandma's wedding. I had already lit them. FML
The smell detective is on the case
Today, something smelled absolutely disgusting in the bathroom. Like cow shit and stinky beetles. I started sniffing around, because whatever it was, I had to find it and clean it up. That, however, proved difficult, because it turned out that smell was coming from the new soap my mom had bought. FML
Today, my mom was feeling down, so I decided to buy her a gift. Knowing she likes lighthouses, I bought her a tiny one that plugs in and lights up. I brought it home, plugged it in, and when she saw me with it, she said, "Wipe that smirk off your face and get that junk out of here." FML
Helicopter
Today, my mother scolded me for having a lighter in my room. My reason I had it? The candle that she bought me for my 25th birthday. I don't even live with her anymore, she showed up uninvited, and started going through my stuff. FML
Today, I found a box of birthday candles sitting on the coffee table. Bored, I lit one, and after a minute I threw it away and sat back down on the couch. I started looking at the box and noticed that it said "Magic Re-Lighting Candles" at the exact moment that my trash can burst into flames. FML
Today, my misanthropic malcontent of a son smashed my air freshener and turned my faulty lava lamp on in a twisted act of rebellion. The bottom of the lamp broke and got wax everywhere. My room now smells like cinnamon, with a hint of freshly embalmed corpse. FML
Today, I think my friends were trying to tell me something with all my Christmas gifts being mostly perfume, deodorant, and soap. FML
Today, my boyfriend's mother told me she bought the same perfume that my boyfriend got me for Christmas last year. He loves that perfume. Now, whenever he smells me, he's going to think of his mom. FML
Tasty snack
Today, I showered with my favorite soaps, and I used my favorite perfumes and lotions too. I layered my scents to get a nice fruity, girly scent, which helps boosts my confidence. My husband walked in the bedroom when I was done and said that it smelled like cheesy garlic bread. FML

Why would you buy extremely expensive candles anyway?

At least you got them on sale? Maybe try and return the other 4

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
That's not a question.

Don't call people out unnecessarily. That statement could be said completely differently with and without the question mark. One is a blank statement, one is sympathetic, with a rising inflection when spoken.

Yeah, and why would Patrick Star try to correct someone? IT'S AN IMPOSTER!

I thought most stores had a policy about not returning sale items.

Most being the keyword. Not all, maybe OP was lucky and bought it at one of those few.

The ****? If I can't spell a word wrong without everyone getting their dicks in a knot, then he can't put a question at the end of a ******* imperative sentence. 0 to 100 real quick bitch.

So op can burn a hole in their pocket.

I'm guessing OP didn't shop for Black Friday the right way if she bought expensive candles.

All, I guess you better get her something else and save those for yourself. Sucks that you wasted all that money though... and that you opened it, since most stores don't accept returns once opened...unless they were individually wrapped. **EDIT** I didn't see the other posts until I hit refresh.

If you don't want to give them her you could return or sell them? Sorry OP

Shitty and expensive. Sounds like modern art.

I'm not the only one that thought this

I suggest getting her a new present

And here you thought the candles would light up her world.

Sorry OP. People like different things, and I'm sure if she knew that she was getting the same candle for Christmas she wouldn't of made the remark. More for you!

**Wouldn't have! Sorry, it's a habit.

Excuse me, "wouldn't have". Better?

Give them to her anyways then make her feel bad till she lights them
