Today, I came home from work to find my five year old daughter drawing unicorns on the wall. The same wall that I had to repaint last week because it had puppies on it. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Picasso in training
Today, I discovered my 3-year-old daughter's artistic skills. She managed to draw an elaborate mural on our living room wall. The masterpiece? A stick figure family, including our dog, but instead of a tail, he has a second head. She of course used permanent markers. FML
Today, I painted my daughter's bedroom. When I wasn't paying attention, the cat walked through the paint tray. There are now Barney purple paw prints all over the house. FML
Today, I came home to find my younger daughter left her silly band collection on the carpet in front of the fireplace. I now have melted unicorns and princesses stuck in my carpet. FML
Roommates from hell
Today, I got home to the smell of permanent marker and the discovery that my roommate's little sister had drawn flower petals around every polka dot she could reach on my walls. I just put up the wallpaper last weekend. FML
Today, I had to tell my daughter that just because markers say "washable", it doesn't mean that you can draw all over our newly-painted walls. She's 15. FML
Freeze peach
Today, my kids decided to draw on the walls with permanent marker, and now my house looks like a modern art exhibit. FML
It's the thought that counts
Today, my toddler proudly presented me a "beautiful drawing" he'd made... on my freshly painted living room wall. When I started to scold him, he said, "But I made it for YOU, Mommy!" Now I feel guilty for being mad at Picasso Jr, and having to paint over it. FML
Parenting fail
Today, I left the living room for 3 minutes to make a coffee. When I went back, my 4-year old had found a permanent marker, God knows where, since I don't own a permanent marker. She'd then drawn on her face, the carpet, wall, sofa, both dogs and as an added bonus the TV screen. FML
Duchamp would be proud
Today, my five year-old niece thought that it would be acceptable to carve her artwork all over our toilet seat. FML
Today, I was painting my bedroom walls, when I was struck with an uncontrollable bout of diarrhea. I had to watch helplessly from the en-suite bathroom as my 2 year old daughter painted a lovely picture for me, all over my new $500 sofa. FML

Who was supposed to be watching her? It's their fault.

Did you not punish her and explain this is unacceptable behavior? Why was no one watching the child? Small children need to be watched constantly for exactly this reason. If she's having trouble grasping the concept, get those special markers that only work on the paper that goes with them.

thank you! there is no way that it should've happened twice. put your foot down. let her know that it's not okay, and if talking didn't work, try a punishment.

Sorry, OP! I used to do the exact same thing when I was a kid. I scribbled on the walls, furniture, books...Anything that could be scribbled on, basically. It's just what happens when you leave kids alone with writing/drawing utensils within their reach.

I wasn't blaming the OP. *Facepalm*

So, she drawed already once on the walls, and you didn't hide the coloring tools? YDI.

I totally agree with Sallen! You need to punish her; take away her crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc; and buy a Magic Eraser. I hear they take paint off walls if its a satin finish. Hopefully you invested in some high gloss paint. Its a sinch to clean!

give her, her 'own wall' in her bedroom that she can draw on whenever she wants
thisgirl2u 9
That is a good idea in theory, except most children can't quite understand why it's acceptable in one instance and not another. I would say instead get one of those big drawing canvas' for the girl and then she can hang them up on her wall like poster's.
