Today, I bought $250 worth of groceries and was feeling rather good about myself because it's the first time I've been able to do so in months. When I returned home I found my fridge/freezer broken. Most of the food I bought was dairy or frozen. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I heard that there was supposed to be a huge blizzard heading our way, so I went out to stock up on groceries. After spending $600 on food, I drove home and packed most of it into the fridge and freezer just in time for our power to go out. FML
Today, I had to spend all of my money on textbooks even though my refrigerator is empty. Starving and frustrated, I called home to ask for money for groceries. My mom told me I could afford to skip a few meals. FML
Eight hour window
Today, I got home an hour late from to find that my roommate had left the fridge open for the entire 8 hours. The kicker is that I was an hour late because I was at the grocery store, not buying the things that were getting ruined because I thought we had some. FML
Today, I spent almost an hour cleaning and scrubbing the inside of my fridge. Just when I'd finished putting everything back inside, I tipped over the open milk carton. FML
Brain worms
Today, I went out to get groceries and ice-cream. When I got home, I couldn't find my house keys. I retraced my steps, but with no luck. I returned home and had to break in. While unpacking, I found my keys in the bag, right next to the completely melted ice cream. FML
Today, it has been 57 hours since I have last had food. The fridge is empty. The freezer is empty. The pantry is empty. Even my bank account is empty because my pay has been delayed. Again. FML
Sadly discontinued
Today, I was grocery shopping. When I got to the frozen foods, I saw some Lean Pockets, which I haven't had in forever, so I bought a couple of boxes. Around lunch time, I was hungry and thought I could have some, until I realized why I stopped buying them: I don't have a microwave. FML
Today, my refrigerator defrosted itself. FML
The first step is admitting you have a problem: take away is bad for you.
Today, I opened my fridge. It's entire contents: half a takeaway meal and 4 bottles of wine. FML
Brain freeze
Today, I realized my wallet was missing right as I went to pay for my groceries. I frantically searched the store, retraced my steps, and finally found it. It was inside a freezer, where I'd apparently placed it in when I was grabbing ice cream five minutes earlier. FML

I'd scream if that happened to me. My whole day would be udderly sour, and there's a 2% chance that I'd milk it for all it's worth. I hope you were able to moove your stuff to a working refrigerator. Sit on the cowch and hope tomorrow is a butter day. Good luck.

Maybe they have a big family and need that much.

Perhaps they do not go shopping often because they have odd work hours or a busy schedule?

groceries are expensive. I buy food just for myself and the total never seizes to amaze me. i guess if you want to live off of ramen noodles then thats a completely different story. have it 3x a day and youll spend no more than $5-$10 a week. you want vegetables, meats and dairy? itll add up

I spend anywhere from $150-200 for just my husband and I.

Damn better hurry up and get it fix before the food spoils OP

Op could ask a friend or his parents if he could store them in their fridge/freezer until he gets things figured out.

Eat some of it and get it repaired, ask someone no shame in it.

Have an all-out party with all that food

You could ask one of your neighbors to let you keep your groceries at their place until you get your refrigerator fixed! I'm sure they'll understand.

Unless OPs neighbors are assholes and say no or steal his food...

or maybe they don't have the space to spare...

I wouldn't let it go to waste. Ask a friend or a neighbor if you can borrow some space in their refrigerator until you can buy or rent a replacement, and you'll agree to split the food with them.

I don't understand why this was thumbed down so much. It's a good suggestion.

I've had this happen to me. Buy a lot of ice (5 or 6 of those party-sized bags) and pack them in among your food. It should keep things from spoiling until you can get someone in to fix it.

Also, it sounds like the stupidly obvious thing to do, but my fridge fixed itself by unplugging it for an hour and then plugging it back in. It's worth a try.

Just like a computer.

I say you call some friends over and eat what you can before it goes bad :)
