Today, I almost got upgraded to business class because the gentleman at the check-in was so mortified at having called me "sir" instead of "mam." However, before it could go through, his colleague stopped him, telling me that it was "an easy mistake to make." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Pavlov's service
Today, I was sitting in the break room when my boss came in and yelled at me about a mistake. Because I've worked in customer service for years, I instinctively responded with, "I'm terribly sorry to hear that, sir. I hope you'll still consider us in the future." FML
Today, a customer at the bar I work at yelled at me for calling her "Ma'am." I asked what she'd prefer, and she gave me her name. When I called her by her name, she yelled at me for not calling her "Ma'am." FML
Today, I was called in over speakers at the airport. The man who was speaking clearly and nearly burst out laughing when he said my name. Soon, a few people around also snickered when they heard it. I had to wait five minutes before I could casually stand up. My last name is Bastard. FML
Today, I was working at my job as a cashier, checking out an elderly woman's groceries. She was very nice, and we chatted for a couple minutes. Once she had paid, she leaned close to me and said, very politely, "I'm so so sorry that I mistook you for a girl at first, young man." I AM a girl. FML
Spelling Bee
Today, I made it onto my boss's shit-list, after pointing out that he'd misspelled "customer" as "costumer" 6 times in his report, and "college education" as "collage education" twice. It'd be a dick move on his part even if making corrections like this weren't part of my damn job. FML
Sashay away!
Today, someone called out "Ma'am!" while approaching me from behind, but then said "Oops, sir!" when I turned around. I was wearing a corset and miniskirt with leggings. They were correct the first time. FML
Today, nine hours into a ten-hour shift, I accidentally told a customer, "You're a problem!" instead of, "You're welcome!" or, "No problem!" She gave me a dirty look and hurried off before I could correct myself. FML
Classic switcheroo
Today, I received an email from my boss, with congratulations, announcing my promotion. I worked hard last year, so I was excited to hear this and replied with gratitude. He texted me and apologized for misunderstanding as this email was sent by mistake, and it was my coworker who actually got promoted. FML
Ungrateful
Today, a customer called me a "smart ass" because I helped him scan his coupon correctly. FML
Clapback
Today, the cafe lady misnamed me Michael. I corrected her and jokingly exclaimed that Michael must be really handsome if she mistook me for him. She simply responded, “No, not really.” FML

I don't think you should get free stuff since the employee made a mistake and sincerely apologized for it, but his colleague was a ********.

So, listen, if you're not doing anything after the FML… wanna hang out?

That was a dick move on his part. It's a easy mistake, but since he said he would upgrade you he should of did it

Exactly... if the upgrade was already offered, it's kind of mean to undo it. It's worse customer service than not offering at all in the first place.

Mildly annoying at worst.

Just because the colleague was such a douche as well, you should have made a scene. Yes the first gentleman may have made a mistake, but the colleague's comment is what would have gotten to me more. I'm sorry but you don't speak to Customers that way... Oh and it was already made available to you that you'd be upgraded.

nothing in the FML says OP made a scene

oops misread your comment

Did you seriously bitch about being called sir instead of ma'am to the point they were going to upgrade you? Grow up. Mistakes happen. Let me guess, you are a feminist.
