Snow Day
Today, my power went out due to a huge snow storm. I was in desperate need of candles and flashlights. I had to walk to the store since the roads were closed. I walked 4 miles in the blizzard. When I got home, the power came back on. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I heard that there was supposed to be a huge blizzard heading our way, so I went out to stock up on groceries. After spending $600 on food, I drove home and packed most of it into the fridge and freezer just in time for our power to go out. FML
Today, I was at my grandparents' house, when the power went out. Even though we were supplied with candles and flashlights, we still had to stumble around in the darkness. They'd left both the candles and flashlights in the pitch black, unnavigable basement. FML
Today, I was really excited to go to a party because I need to make more friends. Too bad a snowstorm hit right before I was going to leave, now I'm alone with no power. FML
Today, I woke up to find my power was out. After taking a shower in the dark and being unable to make myself lunch, my power came on two minutes before I had to leave for school. FML
Today, the power went out. Thankfully, it was early in the morning so I should've been able to sleep through it. Then I realized I have an impossible time sleeping during power outages. FML
Today, a strong storm knocked the power out at our office. I was dismissed five hours early, had my desk locked up and was walking toward the doors to leave when the power came back on. FML
Today, there was a power outage at my apartment. I ended up deciding that the power wasn't going to come on any time soon, and that I should go to a hotel for the night. Just after I unpacked at the hotel, my neighbor called to say the power had come back. FML
Today, the massive snowstorm that has been mercilessly attacking my city for the past week started causing random, brief blackouts every 2-5 minutes. I'm very sick, so the last thing I need is for this house to be cold. FML
Today, during a storm-related power failure, I jerry-rigged an inverter from my car to supply the essentials. In doing so, I managed to blow up the fridge, smoke and all. The power came back on 5 minutes later. FML
Today, I finished working a 70 hour work week. I'm a lineman for the electric company, and worked extended hours all week getting people's lights back on after a wind storm. When I got home, my power was out. FML

You deserve it for not having at least one flashlight in your house.

Exactly, you should have that shit at your house, it's not the first storm of the season and it wasn't a ninja snow storm, where the weather man is like today 80 and sunny, looks outside, never mind -20 and snow. What did you need to do that you needed candles that badly?

#17 has got that right. Unless someone was dying and you don't have neighbors that could help out, there's no reason to walk 4 miles in a blizzard for some candles and flashlights. We survived without electricity for thousands of years, I'm sure you could have gone a least a few hours, of not a few days. YDI for being a dumbass.

Yeah, just be more prepared next time then this won't happen.

At least you got your exercise in for the day. Why didn't you just go to sleep if you had no light? Kind of an obvious solution, if you ask me.

It's not as if candles would be bright enough to get any kind of productive work done, anyway. Go to sleep at night (pro tip: that's the bit when the sky goes all dark) like the diurnal creature you are.

no car, phone, neighbors? or candles or flashlight? WTF.

subtract car...
nannu_nannu 1
Why subtract car? OP said they WALKED 4 miles in a snowstorm. Don't you think they would have driven if they had a car?

The roads were closed. Read before you post.

She could've driven but the roads were closed.

I love when people don't read what was said and then make an ass of themselves. It's almost as good as the actual FMLs

Yeah, maybe they're Amish, so no flashligts, phones, neighbours (what?), for when their ELECTRICAL POWER goes out. Oh wait, what?
samiisSatan 0
you don't have to subtract car necessarily. OP could go sit in there car, where there's light, heat, radio, etc. they don't necessarily have to drive it, they could just wait out the power outage in it. for example maybe he/she had a paper or work to do that they needed light for and had to get done, you can write in a car.
