Today, due to technical problems, I had to call the company's IT-support as my computer went totally haywire. I explained via phone that I couldn't access anything. The support then tried contacting me by e-mail and got upset with me when I didn't answer. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Unionize!
Today, at work, my computer started acting up. I told my boss I could fix it, but he told me to call the IT department instead. Neither the IT technician or his supervisor could figure it out, so I showed them what was wrong and how to fix it. I was promptly fired for wasting 2 hours of company time. FML
Not so tech savvy
Today, I called Tech Support because the computer program wouldn't let me open files for my online classes. After an hour, and being walked through the downloading process multiple times. There was a pause and he said, "You're a fucking idiot." and hung up. It still won't work. FML
Today, our e-mail server went down. When I called IT to find out what the status was, they told me they e-mailed everyone with an update. FML
Thanks mom
Today, I checked my inbox and realized I got an email from a potential employer, saying they were having trouble getting a hold of me by phone. They called while my mom was using my phone to look up directions to a place, and she answered, kindly hanging up when they asked for me. FML
Today, I was calling my cable company to tell me how to fix my internet. I stayed on hold for almost half an hour, and then when someone finally picked up, my phone died. FML
Tech support
Today, my mom has been calling me every ten minutes, asking me questions about her new computer. She called me at work, and I rudely answered her question. She called back, talked to my boss, saying she was a customer that called in, and I was rude to her. FML
Crisis
Today, I called the crisis helpline, and because my connection was cutting in and out for a moment, they hung up on me. When I called back, it was shift change, so they hung up again. FML
Today, at work, due to a mix up, I had to call an answering service. I am also from an answering service. We got the problem fixed but I couldn't hang up due to company policy. She couldn't hang up either. We both had to get our supervisors for permission to hang up. FML
Today, my computer stopped connecting to the corporate network. I know what the problem is, but our tech support is so clueless that the only thing they do is utter the dreaded words, "Did you try turning it off and back on?" Meanwhile my boss is yelling at me for not getting any work done. FML
Today, I spent half an hour on the phone with four departments at my college due to a mistake on my tuition bill. The last guy I talked to told me to call the financial aid office and hung up before I could respond. That was the first office I called. FML

Tell them you faxed your reply back to them. It's like people have no common sense anymore. Like with the doorbell management people...

They shouldn't have gotten upset, but you coulda used another computer or your phone if you can access your email from it. Just saying.

1) It happens if your computer has crappy hardware. It can be normal behavior for your system to lag during normal routine multitasking with many applications as some companies require. I'm sorry you had issues... I voted on both sides for you. 2) Your IT staff are also Dee Dee Dees... but those aren't the "REAL" IT that run the company, those are just the tech support guys that work under the Network and System Admins that did the hard work of building up the enterprise you work with now. 3) If you installed anything, opened any private email or browsed unknown websites, it's your own fault... Totally haywire implies that your computer is behaving abnormally. Your computer would not stop behaving normally within the standard use of most corporate software. Antivirus software, maybe.. yes if its something stupid like Home User AV software... if thats deployed... my condolences.

Haha, IT support. Might as well ask your partially sighted great-grandad.

Sorry to say, OP, but you may kind of deserve it. I work in IT Support, I have for over 13 years. Although I don't know the exact detail of the conversation, your 'computer going haywire' and not letting you open anything is most likely a profile issue or permissions issue that likely would've easily been resolved by rebooting. Like the one poster commented, 4 out of 5 computer problems can be resolved by rebooting. I work for a software/hardware help center, supporting 10,000+ pharmaceutical sales reps? The requirements of a pharma rep are a college degree and they have to be 'gorgeous'. 9 out of 10 of them can't perform simple computer tasks, such as copy/paste, much less realize the simple things that can be done on their own to fix their issues. A lot of users just get too comfortable calling a help desk instead of thinking for themselves. OP, it's possible you may not have explained your issue correctly to the IT tech. Or the IT tech may have been a moron. FYL and YDI, all in one.

SO... How come phone support didn't tell him to try a restart? Seeing as how they are supposed to be the experts and not the user? Not one of your arguments clears support of any blaim in any way. I have worked a lot of IT jobs, starting at a help desk and worked my way up to IT manager, but if there is one thing IT people almost always do is thinking the user thinks like they do. Never assume anything, the first thing IT support should have asked is restart the device. As they did not do this, I will still blaim them for this...
